How the year has flown by, and Christmas is only 7 weeks away. πŸŽ„
Time to start getting ready for the most wonderful time of the year and take a minute to consider our finances. The average Australian will spend $1200 per year* on gifts, that’s not including food and travel costs. πŸŽπŸ—βœˆοΈ
With this in mind lets talk about an 8-week Christmas savings plan.
1. Set up for Christmas budget
Presents take up the biggest portion of Christmas spending, but don't forget the other costs of the season like food, travel, and entertainment.
2. Prepare a Christmas savings plan
Now with an idea of the types of things you may spend money on, estimate a plan to put aside each week to achieve a reasonable goal.
3. Start your Christmas shopping research
Make a list of people to buy for and what you may want to get them. Sometimes less is more, consider something more meaningful or handmade.
4. Shop local for Christmas gifts
When shopping local you reduce costs on postage and handling fees, plus you don’t risk not receiving the gift in time.
5. Track your savings progress
Revisit you budget, you may need to boost your savings or reduce your spending.
6. Start researching shopping deals
Christmas bring around a lot of bargains and sales, shop around to find the best buy for your Christmas list.
7. Finish shopping and wrap your Christmas gifts
Let the festive fun begin, decorations are up, gifts are under the tree, food and drinks stocked up for the family BBQ lay back and enjoy time with your family and friends.
8. Review your budget
With majority of your spending done take a step back and review how your budget has worked. It's important to regularly review your review your budgets to make sure that it continues to suit your needs.

NEXT.. Regroup for back to school – the next big expense
Breaking down your budget into shorter timeframes, and smaller achievable goals can be more rewarding and allows your to recover from any hiccups along the way.

They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old;
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the morning
We will remember them.

Do I need insurance? πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ Is it important?
Personal Insurance is a safety net to protect and provide for your family when you can't.
We work hard to build the life we dream of; we save our money to buy our dream home or car, but what if suddenly our dreams become a nightmare?

Insurance can be put in place for different circumstances,
Death cover and terminal illness cover – to provide for your family should you face death
Total and permanent disability cover (TPD) – To provide for you and your family if you can never work again
Trauma cover – to support you through critical illness such as cancer, stroke or heart disease
Income protection cover – Regular Income replacement if you cannot work temporarily or permanently.
Not sure which cover type is best for you, how to pay for it
Seek financial advice, an advisor can help determine the best cover type, the right amount of cover and tax effective payment options.
Call or email our office to book a meeting with an advisor for a friendly, obligation free consultation.
