How the year has flown by, and Christmas is only 7 weeks away. π
Time to start getting ready for the most wonderful time of the year and take a minute to consider our finances. The average Australian will spend $1200 per year* on gifts, thatβs not including food and travel costs. ππβοΈ
With this in mind lets talk about an 8-week Christmas savings plan.
1. Set up for Christmas budget
Presents take up the biggest portion of Christmas spending, but don't forget the other costs of the season like food, travel, and entertainment.
2. Prepare a Christmas savings plan
Now with an idea of the types of things you may spend money on, estimate a plan to put aside each week to achieve a reasonable goal.
3. Start your Christmas shopping research
Make a list of people to buy for and what you may want to get them. Sometimes less is more, consider something more meaningful or handmade.
4. Shop local for Christmas gifts
When shopping local you reduce costs on postage and handling fees, plus you donβt risk not receiving the gift in time.
5. Track your savings progress
Revisit you budget, you may need to boost your savings or reduce your spending.
6. Start researching shopping deals
Christmas bring around a lot of bargains and sales, shop around to find the best buy for your Christmas list.
7. Finish shopping and wrap your Christmas gifts
Let the festive fun begin, decorations are up, gifts are under the tree, food and drinks stocked up for the family BBQ lay back and enjoy time with your family and friends.
8. Review your budget
With majority of your spending done take a step back and review how your budget has worked. It's important to regularly review your review your budgets to make sure that it continues to suit your needs.
