Australian Building & Roofing Services have finally taken delivery of our new truck after a long and extensive wait.

Just in time with the threat of yet another flood and a large amount of water ingress claims to add to our already heavy workload.

Our specialist & specific EOL division has end to end management of all escape of liquid claims. Dual attendances, sensible strip outs with a dedicated and educated team that understand the urgency required, how important it is to get to site as quickly as possible, dry the structure and mitigate the loss.

EOL or Escape Of Liquid, fire or flood, it doesn’t really matter as long as we can get enough equipment in the truck, we can service the claim.

ABRS assisting Quadracon Building Pty Ltd and Basec Engineering on behalf of Lismore City Council to structurally dry the Lismore Tennis Club & the Elaine Blanch Tennis court clubhouse in Lismore.

Quadracon have completed the stripout works and remediation with ABRS taking over with installation of DBK Drymatic equipment supplied by Restore Solutions.

We are drying both upper & lower levels at the same time and dehumidifiers, axial fans, air scrubbers will also compliment the installation.

We anticipate the building to be at dry standard within the next 7 days.

A great opportunity for us as local builders & restorers to assist the Council and stakeholders to have these buildings operational again as quickly as possible.

8 to 12 hours before the flood peak at our depot. The end result was 4.3m of inundation.

Our reputation for service delivery to our clients & their customers even in the toughest of circumstances is such a credit to our teams, our organisation & our sub-contractor panel.

Adding to the ABRS fleet at an exponential rate.

We are not too sure if we can keep up with number plate ideas, but I am sure we will think of something for the new truck when it arrives.

A few key snapshots of some of the jobs we have been undertaking Northern NSW.

How clean is clean enough? Is it really that important to remove the fixings, glue, dirt & debris as much as possible?

Yes, it is.

We have literally walked into hundreds of jobs within the last 7 to 9 weeks where customers have facilitated their own strip-outs and commenced aerosolising contaminants in the building envelope by using pedestal fans or other means.

Even worse, we currently have a property that is contaminated with friable asbestos as the customer unknowingly removed the mill board backing vinyl in the kitchen.

In many instances, there is no cost saving for partial strip-outs.

Independent verification of works completed is mandatory with these large flood jobs & correct protocol is really important. Adequate documentation is also paramount as many of these jobs have pre-exisiting building leaks that are contributing factors to a longer term problem.

Complexities, limitations, restrictions, complications, levels of inundation, time period of inundation & hazardous materials are all causing cost escalations which are virtually unable to be controlled due to circumstances outside of our control. In-spite of our best efforts to keep all stakeholders updated, each job is different & has it’s own issues that need to be resolved.

Fortunately, ABRS has a very extensive & envied skill set to offer some of the most comprehensive range of services inhouse to our clients to enable a faster turnaround during the claims process.

With strong continued growth across our Building, Restoration and Roofing divisions in between Coffs Harbour NSW through to Brisbane QLD has resulted in ABRS outgrowing our depot and current office space.

Our envious skillset & reputation for high-level service delivery, repairs & claims management means more and more clients are seeking out ABRS to be utilised across all areas of the claim from inception, through to completion.

ABRS will still retain our existing facility for the purposes of plant & equipment storage for our highly successful restoration division and as the new office is strategically positioned just stone's throw from our current premises, so we can quickly mobilise teams & seamlessly operate between the 2 premises.

New phone systems, final office fitout, and signage are being installed next week.

ABRS also carries out drone services for roof & solar panel array inspections.

This enables our building & electrical teams to provide a comprehensive report on the condition of solar panels & roofing areas by utilising thermal imaging.

The majority of solar panels are designed to withstand impact, however, hail larger than 25mm in diameter can cause micro-cracking & hotspots within a cell that cannot be seen. This may reduce the performance & life span of the panel array.

7 days in, 120 + hours, 5 x vans full of equipment, a temporary storage shed and one job with 3 x bouts of water ingress over 3 days with an additional hail storm thrown in just to keep the ABRS team on their toes.

In the last 15 + years facilitating Building, Restoration, Mitigation & Roofing services I have never witnessed such volatility and unpredictably in the weather patterns.

Another property ready for the next stage of the repair process.

It is really important to us to ensure that the site is as tidy as we can get it prior to handover at every opportunity.

Sometimes there are complexities, limitations or conflicts that don’t allow for further remedial works and if pre-existing damages are uncovered during some of these more complex claims we are unable to finish what we have started.

Usually structural, pre-existing mould or bathroom leaks may be uncovered during demolition works that prevent our teams completing jobs to the standards we are known for.

Further demolition, concrete grinding, cabinetry & wet area repairs to follow in due course.

Thermal imaging of a recent claim where large hail up to 100mm in diameter was reported.

The customer advised they were extremely concerned with the damages to the roof and solar panel array as the system was recently installed prior to the storm event.

Australian Building & Roofing Services attended the site with our High-Resolution Radiometric Thermal UAV & our specialist solar contractor to complete a further report prior to the disconnection of any services.
