Our story began before 1961…
Warren’s father, Frank Saunders, was among the early insurance agents for the Ocean Accident and Guarantee Corporation, travelling on his rounds and returning home to his family on Friday afternoons.
When Warren left Marist Brothers College in 1951, unsure of his career path, Frank encouraged him to follow in his footsteps and enter the insurance industry. Warren began his career at The London Assurance Company, where one of his early responsibilities was applying duty stamps to policy documents.
Balancing work with his cricket commitments, he later joined Stacks Motor Company, selling cars alongside well-known sportsmen such as Trevor Allan and Rex Mossop. It was here that Warren’s natural instinct for insurance emerged - he began arranging cover for car buyers and quickly built a growing portfolio of motor vehicle insurance clients.
In 1958, he further broadened his experience by moving into life insurance with the Norwich Union Assurance Company, laying the foundations for what would soon become the Warren Saunders Insurance business.
