🐑 **Learn practical livestock-handling skills from a farmer who has tested them in the paddock.**

Bruce Maynard is a working farmer from Narromine, New South Wales, with experience across sheep, cattle, pigs, cropping, grazing management and farm planning.

Bruce developed Stress Free Stockmanship and co-invented Self Herding. His work, including the development of No Kill Cropping, was recognised with the 2022 Bob Hawke Landcare Award.

He is coming to Kangaroo Island to deliver a practical two-day Stress Free Stockmanship course combining livestock behavioural science with hands-on work with sheep and cattle.

Producers will learn how small changes in where they stand, how they move and when they apply or release pressure can help livestock move more calmly and willingly—saving time, effort and frustration in the yards and paddock.

Course material and related research reports point to potential results including:

✅ feedlot daily weight gains of up to 34%
✅ medication use reduced by up to 90%
✅ reproduction increases of up to 12%
✅ transport weight loss reduced to zero
✅ livestock learning to eat selected weeds.

Results depend on producers developing and correctly applying the higher-level stockmanship skills taught during the course.

**The Kangaroo Island Landscape Board is covering 50% of the course cost for Kangaroo Island primary producers**, reducing the price from $935 to **$467.50 including GST**.

We need at least **10 participants** for the course to proceed, so please register your interest as soon as possible.

📅 Tuesday 25 and Wednesday 26 August 2026
⏰ 9 am each day
📍 650 Boxer Road, Wisanger
🍽️ Meals included

To register and for more information please contact Joaquin Pillado at the Kangaroo Island Landscape Board:
