I’d like to share an important update to Keystart’s Skilled Start product.

Today Keystart has announced an important expansion of the Skilled Start Home Loan to support more frontline workers into home ownership.

The Skilled Start Home Loan was launched back in December – offering a low 2 per cent deposit, no lender’s mortgage insurance, a 1 per cent discount on standard interest rate, and free optional financial coaching for customers.

Skilled Start is all about helping early career Western Australian into a home of their own – it’s open to anyone who, within the last five years, has
• graduated from TAFE or university with a Cert III or higher qualification,
• started or completed their formal apprenticeship, or,
• started working as a skilled worker in the construction industry and is still working in this field.

For joint applications, only one applicant must meet this requirement.

From today, Keystart are expanding eligibility to include anyone who has graduated in the past five years from the WA Police Academy or the WA Fire and Emergency Services Academy, or an equivalent Australian qualification. Those still in training in these fields may also be eligible.

While frontline workers with a Cert III or higher could already access Skilled Start, this expansion ensures that police officers and emergency services personnel who follow a different training pathway have access to the same opportunity to get into a home of their own.
