🚨 Embargoes… here we go again!
With minor flooding currently impacting parts of Victoria, insurers are already starting to place temporary underwriting embargoes across some affected areas.
At this stage, the Victorian postcodes that we are aware of that have restrictions in place are, but not limited to:
📍 3630 – 3631
📍 3666
📍 3677
📍 3691
The restrictions currently apply across a range of insurance products, including:
🏠 Household – Building & Contents
🏡 Landlord – Building & Contents
🚐 Caravan
🚗 Motor
🚜 Farm Pack
🏢 Commercial Property, including when insured as part of a package
🏬 Strata – Commercial & Domestic
🚤 Pleasurecraft
🌾 Crop
And here's the important bit…
An embargo does not necessarily mean you can't get insurance. It simply means an insurer has temporarily restricted certain new business, changes or increases to cover in an affected area while an event is unfolding.
Different insurers can have different embargoes, different postcodes and different underwriting restrictions and these can change at any time.
👀 And before the gossip starts…
No, this does NOT mean insurers have stopped offering insurance in these areas.
It means we need to check the current underwriting position at the time you need the cover and see what options are available.
If you're in an affected area, looking for a new policy, need to make changes to your existing insurance, or have a renewal coming up, please speak to your broker rather than relying on Facebook, Mainstream Media gossip or a direct insurers chatbot. 😉
We'll keep an eye on the situation as things develop.
Stay safe, Victoria. ❤️
The postcodes listed above are those we are currently aware of and may change without notice as the flood situation develops.
