An important update to my client services.

After a great deal of careful consideration, I have made the very difficult decision to step back from client work, with my final day being Friday 25 September 2026.

Over recent months, I have experienced significant burnout and need to prioritise my mental health and wellbeing. Taking this step will give me the space I need to look after myself and consider the future direction of both my life and the business.

This has not been an easy decision. I care deeply about my clients & their businesses, and I am genuinely grateful for the trust they have placed in me and for the opportunity to have supported them.

Once I have had the opportunity to take sometime to recharge, reset & determine the direction to head in next, I'll post an update.

I went to a Women in Business Networking event yesterday and Emily from Human Brands was the speaker. She was speaking about branding in your business and the '4 Horses of the Apocalypse' - definitely a great presentation I do say.
I walked away slight confused about how I could implement what her strategies were in my business. The one thing that did stand out for me was that 65% of people demanded authenticity from brands but only 23% found it in brand messages. Hmm interesting.
Now, I have always been authentic with my clients - maybe sometimes to authentic and definitely too honest resulting in clients deciding that they would rather go somewhere else when I say no or let them know that something they have done has caused issues, resulting in extra charges to fix etc - you know the drill.
And you know what - that's okay that they left (even if it does upset me for awhile).
I'd rather be honest & authentic & upfront with my clients about who I am, what I stand for, who I want to work with and what I can do for them which in turn benefits them instead of banging my head against a brick wall to get them to do what's right when they want to do wrong. They were not my type of client in the first place - something that is generally found out later than at the beginning.
So my website got updated with more honesty and authenticity today. Will be interesting to see if there is any reaction or not.
So don't be afraid to be authentic & honest when dealing with your clients. This is your business and you run it how you want to. Not everyone will be your ideal client and they shouldn't be.

As of 1st May 2026, our business name changes to NJD Bookkeeping & Advisory. This change reflects the way my business has naturally grown and the level of support I now provide to clients. There will be no change in the ownership of the business, my ABN, or the way my bookkeeping services are currently provided.
