Father’s Day is coming up this Sunday, so we’re getting in a little early to celebrate the dads, grandads, stepdads, father figures and all the great blokes who play an important role in our families and communities. 💙

For many of us, Dad is the one we call when something needs fixing, when we need some advice or when we simply need someone to tell us, “She’ll be right.”

Although, being insurance brokers, we should probably point out that “she’ll be right” isn’t technically a risk management strategy. 😂

From all of us at ARMA, we hope all the dads and father figures across our community have a fantastic Father’s Day this Sunday.

Enjoy the day, put your feet up and let someone else take care of the jobs for once!

Things are about to get a little strange across the Mary Valley... and we’re completely here for it. 😂🌾

The Mary Valley Scarecrow Festival is back throughout September, with scarecrows popping up in paddocks, gardens, outside businesses and along roadsides across the Valley.

It’s one of those wonderfully regional events that brings communities together, encourages people to explore the smaller towns and gives locals an opportunity to show just how creative, and occasionally questionable, they can be with a few old clothes and a bale of hay. 😄

For ARMA, we love seeing events that get people out and about supporting the communities and local businesses throughout our region.

So if you’re travelling through the Mary Valley this September, keep your eyes peeled.

And if you spot someone standing motionless in a paddock... perhaps give them a second look before waving. 😂

Last week, we shared the story of a child who decided to help Mum and Dad wash the family car… with sandpaper.

Well, here's another insurance claim that proves you really can't predict what might happen.

An elderly Australian woman accidentally drove through the garage door, continued through the living room and hit the family's camper trailer with enough force to push it into the septic tank.

If that wasn't enough, the carport came down as well.

And her husband? Apparently, he was watching TV at the back of the house and didn't initially realise what had happened.

It's another rather extreme reminder that the unexpected has a habit of happening when you least expect it.

At ARMA Insurance Brokers, that's why we believe insurance isn't just about having a policy sitting in a drawer. It's about having the right cover and a broker you can call when something goes spectacularly off script.

Although in this case, the first conversation might have been with the husband.

“You might want to come out the front…”

Sometimes the best meetings happen over a good cup of coffee.

Ben and Kassidy caught up for their monthly check-in at the Surface Hill Café in Gympie, taking some time away from the office to make sure everything is on track, talk through what’s happening and look at what’s coming up.

These regular catch-ups are an important part of how we work at ARMA Insurance Brokers Southern Queensland. It’s a chance to communicate, share ideas, raise anything that needs attention and make sure we’re continuing to support each other as a team.

And when you can do all of that while supporting a great local Gympie business, even better!

Thanks to the Surface Hill Café for the coffee and hospitality. ☕

When the kids offer to wash the car… maybe ask how first.

In one of the more unusual insurance claims, a child decided to help Mum and Dad by washing the family car.

Very thoughtful. There was just one small problem...they used sandpaper.

The car was certainly cleaner. The paintwork, unfortunately, had seen better days.

It might be an extreme example, but it’s also a reminder that insurance claims don’t always happen the way you expect. Sometimes it’s an accident, sometimes it’s bad luck and sometimes it’s a very enthusiastic child with good intentions and the wrong cleaning equipment.

That’s why at ARMA Insurance Brokers, we believe good insurance is about more than having a policy. It’s about having someone who understands your cover and is there to help when the unexpected happens.

And if the kids offer to wash the car this weekend, perhaps hide the sandpaper first.

You can take the insurance broker out of the office…but apparently you can’t take the ARMA branding off him.

Ben, spent some time working on his property recently, putting a new pump through its paces and doing a bit of a clean-up around the place...and when we say clean-up, he apparently decided a decent-sized burn-off was the most efficient option.

For those running farms, rural businesses or living on acreage, weekends like this probably look pretty familiar. There’s always something that needs fixing, clearing, pumping or maintaining, and it’s one of the reasons Ben understands that running a rural property comes with its own set of risks and challenges.

It’s also a good reminder that when you’re talking insurance with someone who understands rural businesses and properties, it helps if they’ve actually spent some time getting their boots dirty.

The good news is Ben remembered the ARMA hat.

The bad news is we’re not entirely convinced it counts as appropriate PPE for everything else he was doing.

At least we know ARMA brand exposure is being taken seriously.

If you're travelling between Brisbane, the Sunshine Coast and Gympie, chances are you've seen this sign.

For ARMA Insurance Brokers Southern Queensland's Ben, it's a view he knows well. Week after week, he spends time on the road visiting clients across one of Australia's fastest-growing regions.

And every trip tells the same story.

New housing estates. New industrial developments. New businesses opening their doors. More people choosing to live and work in South East Queensland.

It's a region full of opportunity, but it's also a reminder that as businesses grow, their risks often change too.

One of the things Ben enjoys most about being on the road is sitting down with business owners, understanding where their business is today and helping ensure their insurance program has kept pace with that growth.

Because in a region growing as quickly as Southern Queensland, protecting what you've built is just as important as building it.

Every day, tradies are out there building homes, maintaining businesses, solving problems and keeping our communities running.

It's hard work that often starts before sunrise and doesn't finish until the job is done. Behind every successful trade business is someone managing quotes, staff, equipment, vehicles, customers and everything else that comes with running a business.

While you're focused on getting the job done, it's worth taking a moment every now and then to ask yourself one question...

If something unexpected happened tomorrow, would your business be properly protected?

At ARMA Insurance Brokers Southern Qld, we work with tradies across a wide range of industries to help ensure they have insurance that's tailored to the way they work, so they can get on with what they do best.

Because protecting your business should be just as important as building it.

We've been looking through some old photos and came across this one of Ben...

The photo on the left was taken a few years ago and the photo on the right was taken just a couple of weeks ago.

Now, we're not saying insurance has aged him... 😅

But we are saying that after years of helping clients navigate claims, renewals, changing business risks and everything in between, he's still smiling!

The beard might be a little greyer, the glasses have changed and there may be a few more stories to tell, but one thing hasn't changed... Ben's commitment to looking after his clients.

Experience is something you can't fast-track, and over the years Ben has helped countless businesses and families across Southern Queensland protect what matters most.

Now the important question...which Ben gets your vote? 👇😄
