Some banks don’t understand how veterans are paid.

I served in the Army and deployed to Afghanistan in 2012. I became involved in property investing and development and worked as a Home Finance Manager with Westpac before starting my own brokerage. I’ve sat on both sides of the desk — and I’ve seen how often veteran income gets misread by lenders who simply don’t understand it.

A few examples:
🔹 I’m accredited with a DHOAS lender — if you’re eligible, I’ll take you through the loan side properly.
🔹 DVA incapacity payments aren’t read the same way by every bank. Some lenders recognise it as genuine income. Others won’t, or only count part of it — turning a strong application into an unnecessary decline.
🔹 If you were medically discharged and receive a CSC invalidity pension, you may be eligible for a Disability Superannuation Benefit (DSB) — a tax offset many veterans haven’t heard of. Always confirm specifics with CSC or your accountant, but understanding how your pension is taxed changes how I read your income for lending purposes.
You don’t need a broker who just processes paperwork. You need one who understands your service, your entitlements, and how to put your file in front of a lender who’ll actually say yes.
