Our Story:
Queensland's first Community Bank® Branch opened on 1st October 2001 in Par

adise Point as a result the last two big banks closing their doors to the community in 2000. There was an obvious void that needed to be filled, so like minded business people and community members approached Bendigo Bank to propose a Community Bank® for the local community. Bendigo Bank agreed to investigate the support from the local community for a full-service branch. After a successful campaign with businesses and residents embracing the concept, the community raised the required capital of $625,000 via a Public Company prospectus to establish the branch. Since Paradise Point's opening, Upper Coomera opened it's doors on 19 May 2005 followed by Ormeau on 8 August 2008. Together the three branches have banned together to provide over $1 million in sponsorships and donations to not-for-profit community groups and organisations in the Gold Coast North region.

Meet Bridie 👋🏻

Bridie is a Master of Health and Medical Research Candidate at University, undertaking research focused on stroke - a condition that unfortunately affects 1 in 4 people.

Bridie’s research looks at how our muscles are affected by a stroke, helping us better understand why some people experience ongoing weakness and difficulty with movement. To do this, Bridie and her team are using a range of non-invasive techniques, alongside MRI imaging of the muscles. 🧠

And at Griffith, research making an impact beyond the lab is nothing new. By better understanding what happens to our muscles after a stroke, Bridie’s research could help improve rehabilitation and recovery - helping people regain movement, independence and quality of life.❤️

We’re so proud to play a small part in this important research by funding the MRI component of Bridie’s study, and we can’t wait to see where her work leads. ✨

This week, Griffith University said goodbye to Professor Carolyn Evans, after seven incredible years leading the University.

For many years, our Community Bank and Griffith University have shared an incredibly strong and valued partnership. Carolyn has played an important role in championing that partnership and everything we’ve been able to achieve together.

To honour Carolyn’s incredible contribution, we’re proud to announce the 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗳𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗼𝗿 𝗖𝗮𝗿𝗼𝗹𝘆𝗻 𝗘𝘃𝗮𝗻𝘀 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗺𝘂𝗻𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗕𝗮𝗻𝗸 𝗕𝗿𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝗙𝘂𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲𝘀 𝗦𝗰𝗵𝗼𝗹𝗮𝗿𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗽 - an initiative that will deepen our partnership with Griffith and help us do even more to support local students and their futures. 🎓✨

Meet Tahnee! 👋🏻

We recently welcomed Tahnee to our team as our newest Customer Relationship Officer. Let’s get to know her...

🏠 A Queensland girl through and through, Tahnee is originally from Brisbane and has called the Gold Coast home for the past 13 years.

🏦 Tahnee brings 12 years of banking experience - all with Bendigo Bank - including the past two years specialising in personal lending. Her favourite part of the job? Getting to know her customers, understanding what they’re working towards and helping make those plans a reality.

☀️ Tahnee loves that there’s always something to do on the Gold Coast - whether it’s heading to the beach, finding a new place to eat or exploring somewhere new.

👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 Outside of work, Tahnee loves spending time with her kids, watching their sporting activities, catching up with friends and making the most of the weekends.

Five years ago, we opened the doors to our Pimpama-Ormeau branch - and what better way to celebrate than with cake? ☕️🎂

It's not just the milestone we’re celebrating - it’s everything that’s happened along the way! In five years, we’ve supported incredible local organisations, strengthened relationships across Pimpama and Ormeau, and watched our Community Bank become a genuine part of this growing community. 🤍

And we’re still growing too! 🔨 Two brand-new office spaces are almost complete, giving our team even more capacity to meet with customers and serve our community.
