Welcome to the team, Cameron!

We’re excited to officially introduce Cameron, our newest Accountant at Boutique Business House.

Cameron joins BBH with a diverse background, having spent almost a decade in the disability sector before making the move into accounting. With qualifications in Psychology and Professional Accounting, he brings a strong people-first perspective to the team.

At BBH, Cameron supports across tax returns, compliance, BAS & IAS, bookkeeping, and administration, helping clients feel informed, supported, and confident in their next steps.

What really stands out is Cameron’s approachable nature and practical mindset. His experience in leadership and working closely with people has shaped a calm, client-focused approach that we know will be a valuable asset as he grows in the accounting space.

Originally from Wollongong, Cameron recently made the move to the Gold Coast, something he had always hoped to do, and we’re stoked to have him building his career here with BBH.

For many of our clients, Rhiannon is already a very familiar face around Boutique Business House, and we’re so excited to officially welcome her back from maternity leave!

As one of our Senior Accountants, Rhi works closely with clients across financial statements, tax returns, BAS, bookkeeping support and general business advice. What she loves most about the role is the variety that comes with it and the opportunity to build genuine relationships with the people and businesses she works with.

Rhi’s journey into accounting started in an administrative role at a large accounting firm, where she quickly discovered a passion for the industry and worked her way through to Senior Accountant over the next seven years. She later stepped into an internal accounting role within an ecommerce business, giving her valuable hands-on insight into the day-to-day operations and challenges businesses face behind the scenes.

Known for her process-driven mindset and attention to detail, Rhi is all about creating seamless, efficient systems and making accounting feel clear and easy to understand for clients. Her approach is hands-on, relationship-focused and grounded in really getting to know each client’s business and goals.

Outside of work, life is beautifully busy with her husband and two young boys, aged 3 and 1. Whether it’s family bike rides, park adventures or simply soaking up time together outdoors, family time is where you’ll usually find her.

$355,000. Seven years. And the average Australian is living well into their 80s, often their 90s. That's potentially 20 to 30 years of retirement to fund. On $355,000.

ASFA puts a comfortable retirement at $51,000 a year for a single person and $72,000 for a couple. That's not travelling business class and eating at restaurants every night. That's running a car, covering your health costs, seeing your grandkids, going on one decent holiday a year and not lying awake wondering if you can afford the power bill.

The Age Pension sits at around $28,000 a year for a single person. It was designed to stop people from having nothing. It was never designed to actually fund a life.

And yet that's the plan for a significant chunk of Australians right now. Not because they chose it. Because time moved faster than they expected, life cost more than they budgeted for and the gap between where they are and where they need to be just kept quietly growing while they were busy keeping up with everything else.

The people sitting across from us at 58 and 59 having this conversation for the first time aren't people who didn't try. They're people who just never had anyone show them the actual numbers early enough to do something about it.

That's the only difference between being okay in retirement and being genuinely comfortable. Having the right conversation at the right time.

And that time is not when you're about to retire. It's not when the kids finish school. It's not when the mortgage gets a bit more manageable. It's now. Whatever age you are reading this. Family trusts have long been used by business owners, investors and family groups because they provide flexibility around how income and capital gains are distributed.

But proposed Budget changes could affect how that flexibility works.

From 1 July 2028, the Government has announced a proposed minimum 30% tax rate on taxable income of discretionary trusts. That could change how some family groups approach trust distributions, bucket companies and long-term tax planning.

This does not mean every trust needs to be restructured, it means the assumptions behind the structure should be reviewed.

If your business or investment structure relies on discretionary trust distributions, the question is not just:
“Has this worked in the past?”
It is:
“Will this still work under the proposed rules?”

These measures are announcements at this stage, so the detail may change. But for family groups using trusts, this is worth watching closely.
