"...since the start of the pandemic, cybercrime has risen by 300%... cybercrime is not a technology problem; it’s a people problem. Considering 95% of cyberattacks occur because of human error, it’s not surprising.

What can businesses do to build ‘cyber resilience’ and reduce human error? The answer can be summarised in two words: cyber governance."

Company directors who don't implement solid cyber governance may be at risk of personal liability, says Mackay Goodwin CEO Domenic Calabretta.

We're excited to be sponsoring the Camberwell South Primary School Trivia Night this year. It's going to be a blast! Better make use of this lockdown time to brush up on some facts and figures 😁

We've had a fabulous response to ticket sales for our 2021 Trivia and Auction Evening, to be held on 21 August! There are only a handful of tickets left, so get in quick!

This event would not be possible without the generous support of our school community. We are excited to announce a school family-owned business, Jefferson Insurance Group as a GOLD sponsor for the evening! Thank you Jefferson Insurance for supporting our school and helping to make CSPS a better place to play!

If you have a donation or would like to join us as a sponsor, please email [email protected] for more details.

With so much time spent online and on mobile phones, it’s no wonder bullies have taken to the Internet. In fact, you may be surprised how often it happens and how seldom it gets reported. While your first instinct may be to take away your child's phone or internet privileges, you may get further by just talking to your kids and monitoring their activities. Here are a few suggestions to help protect your kids so they don't become a cyberbully or a victim:
1. Learn your child's perspective - understand their tech and be supportive
2. Be the one your kids turn to
3. Help them understand your perspective - it's your job to keep them safe
4. Set limits and boundaries
5. Create a smartphone agreement - have a collaborative conversation with them, set boundaries together, and establish consequences.
6. Think twice about taking away their phones as punishment
7. Lead by example - disconnect yourself and establish phone-free family time.

Thanks to for these tips.

We're stating the obvious but social media and networking is part of our daily lives, there is no denying it. However social media and their associated apps can pose a number of security and privacy risks to both organisations and individuals when used the wrong way. We're pretty sure you *actually know* all of this stuff but perhaps this can simply be a timely reminder to secure your social media accounts:
1. Use a strong passphrase that is unique for each platform and use multi-factor authentication where possible.
2. Do not share or store these passwords or phrases.
3. Don't elect to remember passphrases when offered by web browsers, as tempting as that is.
4. Avoid auto-sign in and remember to sign out.
5. Don't access your accounts from untrusted devices.
6. Make sure you're running the latest versions of your software and regularly update.
7. Remember to close old social networking accounts when they are no longer required.

Where was the last public place you visited that had Wi-Fi? These days, nearly every coffee shop, library, airport and hotel offers a way to access the internet from your mobile phone, tablet or laptop. That means the information you have on your device could be available to hackers in the area – unless you’ve taken steps to protect your data. There is a wealth of information about protecting yourself online via staysmartonline.gov.au and cyber.gov.au. Here is a selection of easy-to-implement ways to improve your online safety:
1. Don’t access personal or financial data with public Wi-Fi.
2. Turn off anything you don’t need like GPS, wireless connection or geo-tracking.
3. Choose your apps wisely and get rid of apps you don't use.
4. Use a password, lock code or encryption - Make sure your passwords are at least eight characters long, with a mix of upper and lower case, and include numbers or other characters, and never use the browser auto-complete feature for passwords. You can use the storage encryption feature on your phone to protect your private data, and set your screen to timeout after five minutes or less.
5. Be skeptical about links and attachments - Cybercriminals attempt to steal your information by sending fake messages. If you’re not sure about the source, don’t use the link or open the attachment.
6. Trace or erase - Make sure your data is secure if your mobile device is stolen or lost. You can set up your device to lock itself after a pre-set number of failed log-in attempts.

Thanks to Chubb Insurance for these tips.

Technically, Safer Internet Day is tomorrow (9th February) however lets start today by looking at some stats to kick off the week:
- Between 1 July 2019 to 30 June 2020, the ACSC (Australian Cyber Security Centre) responded to 2266 cyber security incidents and received 59,806 cybercrime reports at an average of 164 cybercrime reports per day, or one report every 10 minutes. That is MIND BLOWING.
- The Australian Competition and Consumer Commission’s (ACCC) Targeting Scams 2019 Report, identified Australians lost over $634 million to scams in 2019. While the true cost of cybercrime to the Australian economy is difficult to quantify, industry estimates have previously placed cyber security incidents as high as $29 billion annually.
