Tony’s been out meeting prospective new clients again… although this one might be a little harder to insure. 🐊😂

He seemed friendly enough, had a great smile and was happy to pose for a photo. But once Tony started asking the usual questions about occupation, previous claims and risk management, things got a little snappy.

Still, at ARMA Insurance Brokers CQ, we pride ourselves on taking the time to understand every client and their individual risks.

Some just require a slightly longer arm’s length than others.

There’s something special about working with businesses that have been part of the local community for generations.

Jeff and Emma from Small Motor Service are a great example.

Earlier this week, we shared the story of a child who decided to help Mum and Dad wash the family car… with sandpaper.

Well, here's another insurance claim that proves you really can't predict what might happen.

An elderly Australian woman accidentally drove through the garage door, continued through the living room and hit the family's camper trailer with enough force to push it into the septic tank.

If that wasn't enough, the carport came down as well.

And her husband? Apparently, he was watching TV at the back of the house and didn't initially realise what had happened.

It's another rather extreme reminder that the unexpected has a habit of happening when you least expect it.

At ARMA Insurance Brokers, that's why we believe insurance isn't just about having a policy sitting in a drawer. It's about having the right cover and a broker you can call when something goes spectacularly off script.

Although in this case, the first conversation might have been with the husband.

When the kids offer to wash the car… maybe ask how first.

In one of the more unusual insurance claims, a child decided to help Mum and Dad by washing the family car.

Very thoughtful. There was just one small problem...they used sandpaper.

The car was certainly cleaner. The paintwork, unfortunately, had seen better days.

It might be an extreme example, but it’s also a reminder that insurance claims don’t always happen the way you expect. Sometimes it’s an accident, sometimes it’s bad luck and sometimes it’s a very enthusiastic child with good intentions and the wrong cleaning equipment.

That’s why at ARMA Insurance Brokers, we believe good insurance is about more than having a policy. It’s about having someone who understands your cover and is there to help when the unexpected happens.

And if the kids offer to wash the car this weekend, perhaps hide the sandpaper first.

You never quite know where a day on the golf course will take you.

A few years ago, ARMA Insurance Brokers CQ's Tony found himself swapping golf clubs for a microphone when 7 CQ News dropped by for an interview. While the setting may have been relaxed, the conversation highlighted something that remains true today – local businesses play an important role in supporting the communities in which they operate.

At ARMA, we’ve always believed that business is about more than policies and premiums. It’s about people, relationships and being actively involved in the communities we call home.

Throwback to 2025, when Samantha completed her Diploma of Insurance Broking.

While we're incredibly proud of Sam's achievement, we have to admit that every time we look at this photo from our old office, our attention is drawn to that brick wall in the background. It's giving us serious Prisoner vibes - like the TV show.

Thankfully, Sam wasn't serving time, although having to work alongside Tony every day may have felt that way on occasion.

Jokes aside, completing a Diploma of Insurance Broking is no small feat and reflects the commitment and professionalism that Sam brings to ARMA Insurance Brokers CQ and our clients every day.

A lot has changed since this photo was taken. We've moved from our old office into our new home at 10 Tank Street, but one thing that hasn't changed is our focus on providing great service and continuing to invest in our people.

Congratulations again, Sam, on an outstanding achievement. As for Tony, we're still waiting for confirmation that he wasn't actually the prison warden in this photo.
