Me good friend Stephen McBride and I planted this ficus yesterday on his property West of Calliope. This ficus has an intresting story. Steve gave me a few m3 of dirt out of his cattle yard 13 years or so ago. This particular ficus came up in the dirt under a mango tree. A year or two later i potted it and semi bonsaied it. Recently we moved house so I gave it to Steve. He decided to plant it back on his property. It will one day shade his livestock and provide habitat for native animals alike.

Well one positive from our camp at Facing Island is I had the chance to plant another ficus just back from the fore dune. The weather wasnt as amazing and wrecked our camp in the night...

Ficus gifted to a land holder by Australian Offset Strateies at Beecher and planted out about 12 mths ago. Looking a little dry and no doubt awaiting the summer rains. Im working near them at present and enjoy driving past them daily.

Ficus do really well when planted in a dead stump. The decomposting stump provides a rich source of nitrogen and assists with retaining moisture, enabling the ficus to get a foot hold and become established.

A land holder out west of Rockhampton, recently sent these pics in of gifted ficus planted less than 12 mths ago. Very incouraging growth considerig they were planted and have not been watered or fertilised since. They are in the farmers bull paddock and will one day shad his livestock.

Last of my ficus to go as we are moving, so I have not propagated or cloned any ficus for abit now. This one is going out to a property in the high country west of Calliope. Stay tuned for more ficus in the near future. Thanks Stephen McBride for your on going support.
