More and more Australians are moving into build-to-rent homes.
But what are build-to-rent properties?

The term ‘build-to-rent' refers to rental properties that are built with the intention of being rented.

They allow residents the flexibility of renting with the stability of home ownership while catering to diverse and changing housing needs. This model is a major departure from the traditional Australian model of housing development and ownership.

Housing Choices Australia used a similar model for years and more recently partnered with developers like Assemble Communities to find innovative ways to tackle the housing crisis. As a not-for-profit community housing organisation, we exist to provide long-term, affordable housing to all Australians, no matter their pay-bracket.

With an increasing number of Australians priced out of the housing market, the build-to-rent sector offers an alternative to Australia’s current housing options, which are dominated by private ownership and private rental.

The build-to-rent sector has had success overseas with 1 in 5 new homes built in England and 1 in 4 in London under this model..
