The straight answer is no, your leave balance doesn’t have to be included on your pay slip. But your employer is required to keep accurate records of your leave taken and leave balance. Your employer also needs to provide you with these records when you ask.

Check what needs to be included on your pay slip: https://www.fairwork.gov.au/pay-and-wages/paying-wages/pay-slips

Ombudsman or Commission - what’s the Fair Work difference? While we’re both responsible for making Australia a great place to work, we play different roles and are separate organisations.

We - the Fair Work Ombudsman - enforce compliance with the Fair Work Act, related legislation, awards and registered agreements. We also help employees and employers by providing advice, education and assistance on workplace rights and obligations.

The Commission on the other hand is the national workplace relations tribunal. They help resolve disputes at work, create awards, approve enterprise agreements and review the minimum wage. People can lodge applications for unfair dismissal and general protections with them, as well as apply for orders to stop bullying or sexual harassment.

People often mix us up which is fair 😉. View the differences in detail: https://www.fairwork.gov.au/about-us/our-role-and-purpose/fair-work-commission-how-were-different

Moving between his 9-5 office job and his PT side-hustle means that David spends a lot of time in his car! 🚗

A friend at work has let him know he can claim his travel when driving directly from one job to another. David decides to download the ATO app, so he can start keeping records of his work-related travel and be prepared at tax time.

You can find out more about travel and transport expenses at www.ato.gov.au/Individuals/Income-and-deductions/Deductions-you-can-claim/Transport-and-travel-expenses/

We’re clearing up common myths about parental leave under the National Employment Standards (NES). Check out our parental leave fact sheet for the full story on your parental leave entitlements: https://www.fairwork.gov.au/tools-and-resources/fact-sheets/minimum-workplace-entitlements/parental-leave-and-related-entitlements

❌ You can be given a different role when you return from parental leave.
✔️ If you’ve taken parental leave, you’re entitled to return to the same job you left even if a replacement employee was hired to fill your (swollen) shoes.

❌ Casuals aren’t entitled to parental leave.
✔️ Casuals can take parental leave as long as they’ve worked on a regular and systematic basis for at least 12 months and would continue to do so if it weren’t for the birth.

❌ Once I return from parental leave, I have to work for another 12 months before I’m eligible to take parental leave again.
✔️If you work for the same business then you don’t have to accumulate another 12 months service before being eligible for parental leave again.

❌ I can’t take annual leave while I’m on parental leave
✔️ You can take any of your accrued annual leave at the same time as you take parental leave. The usual rules about taking annual leave and how you’re paid for the leave apply.

🔍💥 Tax scam myth #2: Scams are super easy to spot.

Think again! Scams aren’t always full of typos and bad grammar. From fake emails to websites, today’s tech means they are getting harder and harder to identify.

Remember to stop and think before you click any links! It’s always safer to look something up or type in a web address yourself.

If you’re being paid cash-in-hand or ‘off the books’, you may not know whether you’re getting:
• minimum wage
• superannuation
• other workplace entitlements like paid leave and penalty rates.

While it’s ok to be paid in cash, you need to be on the books. Make sure you’re given a pay slip and are getting the right pay: https://www.fairwork.gov.au/pay-and-wages
