The cattle don’t know it’s Labour Day. Neither does the cotton planting window, the freight run, the wages due, or the Bank’s, ATO’s or state government deadline.

Most of the offices that advise rural NSW are dark today. The out-of-office is on, The phone goes to voicemail.

Fair enough. It’s Labour Day in NSW and everyone’s earned it - but our clients still have plenty on and it isn’t a holiday in Victoria, Queensland, SA, the NT, Wa or even Tassie!

A business doesn’t get a day off from a decision that can’t wait.

Whether it’s the farm, construction site, a transport run, a contracting crew, a HR / WHS matter that needs attention or a family trying to settle a house purchase, the pressure keeps its own calendar. It tends to arrive at 9pm on a long weekend.

Here’s what I’ve seen when it comes to client support, nobody prices presence.

It’s not on a rate sheet.

Yet it’s the one thing clients remember, because it’s the one thing they can’t buy when they need it most.

Our clients don’t measure us in hours or holidays. They measure us in outcomes.

So at Bullagreen, the calendar doesn’t set the standard. The outcomes do with the quality of our delivery.

Meet Darryl Lidgard, Associate Director of Asset & Commercial at Bullagreen Rural Specialists.

Darryl specialises in asset and commercial finance for rural and regional businesses.

Working with lenders and finance providers, he assists clients with funding options for machinery, vehicles, equipment and commercial investments, helping structure finance around the way the business operates and where it is heading.

He works closely with the Bullagreen team and external lenders to ensure applications are well structured, clearly presented and efficiently managed through to settlement.

Meet Max Laurie, Director, Regional Agribusiness & Advisory at Bullagreen Rural Specialists.

Max grew up on a beef cattle property in the New England region of New South Wales and is still based in Armidale, where agriculture has been both his career and passion.

His role includes working alongside farming families, agribusiness operators and regional enterprises across client engagement, business analysis, funding preparation and full adviser network coordination, connecting clients with accountants, banks, solicitors, agronomists and other specialists to ensure nothing falls through the gaps.

He is currently completing further qualifications in finance and agribusiness services as part of his ongoing development within the Bullagreen group.

An unexpected but very welcome update. Named a 2026 Connective Excellence Awards finalist for Commercial Rising Star, NSW/ACT. 👏

It comes at the end of a cracking twelve months. In the same week the nomination landed, we secured over $80 million in approvals for our clients. That followed $150 million in lodgements to start July, a solid August and September looking like our best month yet.

My name may be on the nomination but the recognition belongs to the entire team. Twelve months ago, this firm didn’t exist. Now, we have clients across Queensland, New South Wales, Victoria and South Australia, running real businesses and making big calls with us alongside them.
