Someone said to me the other day that “ ” has become a dirty word, we don’t agree with that at Bullagreen Rural Specialists.
This isn’t just an ag thing, It applies across the board.
If we aren’t sustainable on our returns, our costs, our operations, of course we won’t be around. That’s just the fundamentals of business.
**Quick explainer**, because most people haven’t heard the term: the “2050 glidepath” is the path banks have set themselves to reach net zero lending by 2050, with checkpoints along the way, starting around 2030.
So in plain terms, it means your bank has its own emissions target, and your loan is now part of how they measure it and how they price your funding.
That’s already showing up in the lending process across the board in ESG assessments.
Funding packs, the documents you put together to support a loan or a refinance, increasingly need to include emissions data and a sustainability position, not just financials and a valuation.
Same story with processors and exporters as we’ve seen with different accreditations. They’re building their own packs for their customers, and your numbers go into them.
Here’s the part worth sitting with: being ahead of this isn’t a cost.
It’s cash in your pocket!
Better terms from the bank. Better standing with the supply chain. And none of the panic that comes from scrambling for data the year someone finally asks for it.
Most operations already have more of the story than they think. Soil work, water use, herd and cropping efficiency, it all counts, but only if it’s captured and put into the pack properly.
That’s the job we do, on farm and off.
