Are you aware, that the actual rate you receive on your Fixed-Rate Home Loan is the rate on Day? That means the rate you see when you apply for a Fixed-Rate Home Loan can be very different from what you actually get.

As interest rates come into focus and more and more borrowers consider fixing their Loan, it might be worth considering looking at RATE LOCK.

A Rate Lock will ‘lock in’ the interest rate on your Fixed-Rate Home Loan at the time of application or when you pay the rate lock fee (varies from Lender to lender). This means that even if rates move higher between the time you apply and the time the loan is settled, you will still receive the same agreed-upon interest rate.

Generally, lenders charge either a fixed fee or a percentage of the home loan, which is normally up to 0.15%, to access a rate lock. The rate lock will last anywhere from 60 to 90 days and varies between different lenders.

House Prices Surge in February!

The strength in the Australian property market has continued for another month, with strong gains in all capital cities.

According to the latest data from CoreLogic, capital city house prices increased by 2.1% in February, the fastest rise in 17 years.

Hobart and Sydney were the strongest capital city housing markets, gaining another 2.5% in February, while Melbourne’s market continues to keep moving higher since the end of the lockdowns, gaining 2.1%.

House prices across the country are now 4.0% higher than they were this time last year, prior to the start of the COVID-19 pandemic.
