Following the closure of the last financial institution in Dingley Village in December 2000‚ the Chamber of Commerce sought support from the community for a Community Bank®. Coincidentally‚ at the same time the support was being raised‚ another financial institution announced its closur

e. Faced with no banks in the Dingley Village Community the community support was strong and a steering committee was formed. Pledges were raised and a feasibility study conducted. In September 2001 our company was formed and a prospectus was issued to raise the required capital in November 2001. Notwithstanding the Christmas/New Year period‚ $630‚000 in capital was raised from the share offer‚ premises secured and fitted out and staff recruited. Our shareholder meeting was a very successful social night with more than 350 people in attendance‚ followed by our bank branch opening the next day. The strong support from this community got our bank branch off to a good start. We formally opened our doors on 22nd April 2002 with no business, no loans, and no deposits in our branch but a community full of support. We set a new metropolitan record by opening 247 accounts and having banking business of $887‚946 in the first week of business. We now hold over $200 million worth of banking business and we employ ten staff. We have contributed over $2.3 million of profits back to the community. Through grants and sponsorship we have supported football, netball, cricket, baseball, scouting, aged care, service clubs, schools, the neighbourhood centre and numerous other community groups to continue to offer their services, particularly when the Global Financial Crisis hit and donations from alternative sources become scarce.

How exciting to see our continued partnership with the Lyndale Football Netball Club come to life in such a meaningful way.

The club has just unveiled their stunning new Indigenous Netball Bibs, designed by proud Ballardong & Whadjuk Noongar Woman and club member, Bianca Collard.

Bianca’s beautiful design represents the unique journeys of each netballer and the strong bond among the players.

It’s a perfect reflection of Lyndale FNC’s vision to ensure their club remains a welcoming home for everyone who walks through their doors.

What an incredible night last Thursday at Keysborough Golf Club celebrating the power of community at the Community Bank Dingley Village Bendigo Bank Annual Grants Evening! 🎉

Our biggest event of the year brought together more than 120 passionate community leaders, volunteers, organisations and local changemakers. All united by one goal, making our community stronger together.

We were incredibly proud to announce $530,000 in funding for community projects and not-for-profit organisations for the 2025/2026 financial year. That brings our total community investment to an amazing $7.6 million since opening our doors in 2002! An amazing effort for our stand-alone Branch!💚

The evening was filled with inspiration, connection, collaboration and a shared passion for supporting grassroots initiatives that create real local impact.

A special thank you to our distinguished guests including Roz Blades AM, LLee Tarlamis MP AAfri-Aus Care IncSelba Gondoza Luka OAM and Mayor of the City of Greater Dandenong Cr Sophie Tan for joining us on such a special evening.

We were also thrilled to welcome members of the wider BBendigo Bankfamily including DDavid Impey CEO of Bendigo Foundation, Collin Brady, Georgie Worland, Warren Harris and Amanda Davidson.

🎗️What a great morning! Today, our community bank was excited to be able to support the Dingley Village Neighbourhood Centre’s annual Cancer Council Biggest Morning Tea.

It was fantastic to have some of our Board Directors in attendance, catching up with locals and sharing a cuppa alongside some amazing community organisations, including the wonderful Historical Society.

It is always amazing to see our local communities strong ongoing support for these events.

🌟 Celebrating Our Community: Our Volunteers! 🌟

Volunteers are the glue that holds our community together. They build connections, support those in need, and create the vibrant, inclusive environment we all share in our community. Without them, so many of the essential programs, events, and services we rely on simply wouldn't exist!

Today, we want to stop and recognize the amazing job of all the volunteers who give their time, energy, and passion to our community.

We want to start by acknowledging our very own volunteer Board of Directors. Thank you for your dedication, leadership, and vision in guiding our Community Bank. Your commitment sets the tone for everything we do.

But our gratitude extends far beyond our boardroom! We want to send a massive THANK YOU to the everyday heroes across our community, including:

🏅 The coaches, team managers, and committee members keeping our local sporting clubs running week in and week out.
🤝 The dedicated individuals driving our community organisations forward.
📚 The hardworking parents and carers in our school parent associations who do so much for our kids.
