If you’d told us at school that 20 years later Glynn would be buying commercial buildings and I’d be financing them, I reckon we both would’ve laughed at you. 😂

But here we are.

With our 20-year high school reunion coming up next month, the timing of this one is pretty bloody cool.

Glynn and I have stayed mates since school, and somewhere along the way we both ended up building businesses of our own.

He’s a builder, so over the years when I’ve needed something built, fixed or changed at home, Glynn’s been one of the calls.

When he’s needed finance for his business, the call has come back the other way.

This week was a pretty big one — settlement on his own commercial building.

Buying the building your business operates from is a massive milestone. It’s another step forward for what Glynn’s built and something he should be bloody proud of.

Nearly 20 years out of school, it’s pretty cool to look around and see what old mates have gone on to create for themselves.

Congrats Glynn. Awesome result mate.

Now we just need to survive the reunion without too many stories from 20 years ago resurfacing. 🍻

Kurt & Bronte ❤️

9 years ago, I was lucky enough to be a part of Kurt and Bronte buying their very first home.

It was all relatively new for all of us. Kurt and Bronte were first-home buyers, and I was still relatively new to broking myself — learning the landscape and building what would eventually become the business we have today.

Over those 9 years, we’ve always been there when they’ve needed a hand, and they’ve been huge supporters of me along the way. I genuinely can’t thank these guys enough.

A fair bit has changed in that time. There’s been a wedding, the arrival of beautiful little Halle, plenty of life in between… and perhaps most extraordinarily, the slow but steady demise of Kurt’s hair. 😂

And now, another pretty special milestone.

A bigger home for their growing family, with more room to live, grow and create a whole new chapter of memories together.

Buying and selling at the same time is never easy to juggle. Throw a young family into the mix and there’s another layer altogether. But Kurt and Bronte handled it incredibly well and have come away with an amazing result. You guys should be bloody proud.

These are the moments that remind us why we do what we do.

It’s never been about doing a transaction and then saying goodbye. It’s about relationships that grow over the years and being there as our clients move through different stages of their lives.

From helping Kurt and Bronte buy their first home 9 years ago, to helping them into their next family home today.

Pretty bloody cool — and hopefully there are plenty more chapters still to come. ❤️ ‘

THE RESULT

Remember these guys? Two years ago we wrote a post about them. It said:

“We’re still early days, with the next stage being the big one — building something on it! But we’ve got the first box ticked.”

Well… here we are.

The first photo was taken standing on a piece of land in front of a SOLD sign.

There was no development.
There were no completed homes.
There was no guarantee it would all work out.

Just two young families with a plan.

At the time, Connor and Chloe wanted to create more flexibility for their family’s future and get ahead financially.

Caleb and Shea had dreams of building their own home one day and wanted to create a pathway to make that happen.

Like every property project, there were challenges along the way. Rising interest rates, increasing building costs, and plenty of moments where it would’ve been easier to do nothing. Not to mention both families growing, welcoming new additions, and even squeezing a wedding into the mix. But they stuck to the plan.

Today, two years later, they’re standing in front of the finished project with the SOLD sign up once again. Looking back at where it all started, that’s pretty special.

What we love most is that this story isn’t really about property. It’s about having a vision, backing yourself, and staying the course when things get hard.

Because the reality is, most people never get to take the second photo.

The one where the risk paid off.
The one where the sacrifices make sense.
The one where the plan becomes reality.

Proud of you all. Thanks for trusting Huddle to be part of the journey from day one. ❤️

PULLING BACK THE CURTAINS

I used to think building a business would feel exciting all the time. The truth is… a lot of the time it just feels heavy.

The constant thinking.
The inability to switch off.
Making sure the team’s okay.
Making sure clients are looked after.
Trying to grow something without losing what made people trust you in the first place.

There’s a lot people don’t see behind business owners.

Some days you leave the office mentally exhausted without even really knowing why.

Recently I spent a few days with someone whose opinion I deeply respect. His words stuck with me:

“The balls you’ve got in the air right now, the pace you’re moving — only a couple of businesses I’ve ever seen have matched. But It’s only been 2 years. You can’t avoid growing pains… get used to it.”

FY26 has taught me a lot already.

Business is bloody hard.

This year we changed a lot. Not because we felt like it — because we could see the opportunity in front of us.

To grow properly meant:
better systems,
better processes,
more staff,
more structure,
more responsibility.

And when you’re building in real time, things can feel messy behind the scenes.

But despite all of that, we’ve still had some amazing wins this year.

The team has stepped up in ways I didn’t expect — personal growth across the board with our existing crew.
2 new  support staff onboarded with a focus on building our efficiency and client experience.
PBs across the business, new relationships formed, and a stronger foundation being built every month.

I used to think feeling stressed, under pressure and uncertain  meant something was wrong. Now I think it probably just means you’re building something real.

Pressure is uncomfortable — but it’s also where resilience gets built.

And I’m starting to realise:
you probably can’t build something meaningful without a bit of chaos along the way.

That’s small business.

Callan and Janelle already had a home.
Then they found THE property.
The one you just know.
So they made the call — let’s go all in.

What they didn’t know was that two months earlier, Callan had made another call that was about to make things a bit complicated.
He’d left his job and gone out on his own as a builder.
Not because the timing was perfect.
Because it was the right move for their future.

They went to their existing bank first.
Sat down. Laid it all out.
And got shut down immediately.
“You’re newly self-employed. Not a chance.”

They tried a broker next.
Same story. Same result.
Two people they were supposed to trust.
Two dead ends.

There’s a specific kind of defeat in that moment.
Because it wasn’t just a loan rejection.
It felt like they were being punished for making the right decision.
He’d backed himself. They’d found their forever home. And now the system was telling them — wrong time, wrong move, too bad.

When they came to Huddle, we didn’t have a different scenario to work with.
Newly self-employed. Same property.
What we had was a different approach to how it was structured and presented.

We got the approval for them. But do you know the funny part about this? It was approved by the same bank that initially told them “not a chance”.

When we called Janelle to give her the good news…
I could hear it in her voice.
It wasn’t just relief about the house.
It was validation Callan backing himself hadn’t cost them their dream property.

That’s the part that stays with me.

Stories like Callan and Janelle’s aren’t rare — they’re becoming more common. Lending is more complex than most people realise, and the gap between bankers and brokers having this exposure is becoming wider and wider.
The right broker is doing it every single day — and that repetition, that exposure, is what gets deals like this across the line.

We’re so glad you picked up the phone and rang us. It’s the reason the answer changed from a no - to a yes and now make plans to build your forever home

HUDDLE HQ

It’s been a big 12 months in the new office. From an empty space and concrete floors we’ve created a warm and inviting place not just for us to work in, but for our clients to feel comfortable coming to.

Not your regular office, and certainly not your regular finance brokers either.

A sneaky mid-week trip down to Hobart for networking and some more recognition for a great year. It’s been a pretty special awards season for us but certainly not the reason that we do what we do. But they are always a nice surprise.

ON THE MARCH

It’s already April. When did that happen? But coming off one of the busiest months in our history it’s time for a quick wrap up before we move forward to what’s still ahead for the remainder of the financial year.

In March we submitted over 16million dollars of loans. From new home loans, to refinances, construction deals, business funding and more. Almost 30 deals in total and while we all had to put in really hard to make that happen, the team still managed to have some fun and gain some pretty happy clients (that we plan on keeping for life!). It’s now a consistent level that we are reaching each and every month and to be honest that’s something to be proud of.

From the little underdog in the market to where we are now has taken some big efforts inside the office but we know that it’s not possible without some great humans around us, in the industry and at home.

Thank you to all of those that support us in business, and in life.

Ok that’s enough from us. We better get back to work.
