As university for 2026 is well underway, we took the opportunity to meet with one of our successful 2026 scholarship applicants recently at the bank.
Local student Jaime Sandow got the opportunity to meet with manager James Watson and the directors of the board Joan Janssen and Carol Ross who had assessed and granted her application. It was fantastic to meet such an intelligent and passionate young woman setting out on the next stage of her education.
Reflecting on what being granted the scholarship means to her, Jaime commented -
"I don’t think I could have managed university alongside work, especially with such a big transition—moving from online to in-person study, relocating from rural to city life, and living independently for the first time. The application process itself was straightforward. Everyone I dealt with was very supportive, and James was especially kind. Receiving the scholarship means not having to work, it allows me to focus fully on my studies and engage more deeply with my learning, which is important for the kind of career I’m pursuing in politics and international relations. It also reduces exhaustion and helps me maintain my passion. Financially, it supports me in covering essential costs like study materials, food, and everyday living expenses. Thank you Community Bank Daylesford District for giving me this opportunity to go to university to follow my passion for human rights and equality so that in the future I can make a contribution to my local and wider community."
