A Victorian woman has been sentenced to 4 years in jail after fraudulently obtaining nearly $600,000 in GST refunds.
The sentence comes with a non-parole period of 2 years and 4 months and is the latest conviction under Operation Protego.
“Our message remains clear. If you don’t run a business, you don’t need an ABN and you can’t claim GST refunds. This is fraud,” Serious Financial Crime Taskforce Acting Chief Jade Hawkins said.
