TOP PRIORITY FOR IMMEDIATE BROADCAST
SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WARNING - SOUTHEAST QUEENSLAND
for DAMAGING WIND, HEAVY RAINFALL and LARGE HAILSTONES
For people in the SOMERSET and parts of the LOCKYER VALLEY, GYMPIE, MORETON BAY, IPSWICH CITY, DALBY, SOUTHERN DOWNS, SUNSHINE COAST, SCENIC RIM, SOUTH BURNETT and TOOWOOMBA Council Areas.

The Bureau of Meteorology warns that, at 3:05 pm, severe thunderstorms were detected on weather radar near Jimna, the area between Crows Nest and Cooyar, the area west of Toogoolawah and the ranges south of Jimna. These thunderstorms are moving towards the east to southeast. They are forecast to affect the area west of Kingaroy, the area west of Conondale and the area southwest of Kingaroy by 3:35 pm and Mount Barney, Aratula, Mount Kilcoy and Conondale by 4:05 pm.
Damaging winds, heavy rainfall that may lead to flash flooding and large hailstones are likely.
Emergency Management Queensland advises that people should:
* Move your car under cover or away from trees.
* Secure loose outdoor items.
* Avoid driving, walking or riding through flood waters.
* Seek shelter, preferably indoors and never under trees.
* Avoid using the telephone during a thunderstorm.
* Beware of fallen trees and powerlines.
* For emergency assistance contact the SES on 132 500.
The next warning is due to be issued by 4:05 pm.
A more general severe thunderstorm warning is also current for the Gulf Country, Northern Goldfields and Upper Flinders, Central Highlands and Coalfields, Wide Bay and Burnett, Southeast Coast and parts of the Peninsula, Northwest, Central West, Capricornia and Darling Downs and Granite Belt districts.
Warnings are also available through TV and Radio broadcasts, the Bureau's website at www.bom.gov.au or call 1300 659 219. The Bureau and Emergency Management Queensland would appreciate warnings being broadcast regularly.
