We are pleased to share that the NDIA Connecting Day will be coming to Collie on Wednesday, 23 September 2026, from 10:00am to 2:00pm at the Collie Senior Citizens Centre, 99 Forrest Street, Collie.

This free community event is a great opportunity to learn more about the NDIS, connect with local providers, and ask questions about disability supports and services.

As your Plan Managers, WA South West Plan Managers will also be attending the event. We will be available throughout the day to answer any questions you may have. Whether you are new to the NDIS or looking for a new Plan manager, we would love to meet with you.

There will also be a free sausage sizzle and refreshments available on the day, making it a welcoming and relaxed opportunity to connect with others in the community.

🚨 Important reminder for unregistered Supported Independent Living (SIL) providers:

Now is the time to apply for registration if you want to continue providing SIL under the NDIS.

If you do not intend to apply for registration, you need to notify the NDIS Commission. You must stop providing SIL and support affected participants to transition to a registered provider by 1 October 2026.

It is a serious offence to provide SIL on or after this date without having applied for registration. The maximum penalty is up to 2 years’ imprisonment, a fine of 120 penalty units, or both.

The Government has announced a new commissioned Support Coordination and Connection (SCC) service, starting 1 July 2028 - the biggest structural changes to hit our sector since the NDIS began.

The Department of Health, Disability and Ageing and the NDIA are now seeking public feedback. Submissions are open now and close 2 October 2026 - the submission window is very short.

DIA invites all Support Coordination providers and practitioners to attend a Virtual Town Hall on the proposed SCC service. This session is free and open to everyone - support coordination providers, practitioners, sole traders, psychosocial recovery coaches, and anyone invested in the future of Support Coordination. You do not need to be a DIA member.

This session will cover:
➡️ What is actually proposed, and what's already been decided: The commissioned lead organisation model, SCC and SCC+, regional service areas, and the difference between what this consultation can still shape and what Government has settled.
➡️ How to approach the 19 questions strategically: You don't have to answer all of them. Which ones carry the most weight for providers, and how to choose the handful where your evidence is strongest.
➡️ What data makes a submission credible: The caseload, participant outcomes, cost and thin-market evidence the Department can actually use, and how to present it if you don't have a policy writing background.

📢 Have Your Say on the Future of NDIS Support Coordination

The Australian Government is seeking feedback on the proposed design of a new NDIS Support Coordination and Connection Service, planned to commence from 1 July 2028. The consultation aims to improve quality, consistency, safeguarding, and responsiveness for NDIS participants while ensuring people continue to receive the support they need.

This is an opportunity for participants, families, carers, advocates, providers, and the broader disability community to help shape the future of support coordination services. Feedback will inform advice to government on the final design of the new service.

💡 Understanding Sleepover Shifts in the NDIS

The NDIS Quality and Safeguards Commission has released guidance to help providers, workers, participants and families better understand sleepover shifts.

A sleepover shift allows a support worker to sleep overnight while being available to provide up to two hours of active support if needed. The guidance also outlines important responsibilities around participant safety, worker wellbeing, fatigue management, and when active overnight support may be more appropriate.
