🌿 What’s On This Week | Term 2, Week 8 🌿

This week, our Preschool and Foundations classes will be exploring Allah the Creator – Allah Made the Animals. Through stories, discussion, play, exploration and hands-on experiences, children will reflect on the beauty and diversity of Allah’s creation.

Alongside our Letter of the Week, we will continue building important school readiness skills through our daily classroom rhythm. Circle time, listening and following instructions, working together, developing fine motor skills, practising pencil grip, and completing meaningful craft projects are all carefully woven into each session.

Sometimes it may look like “just play” - but this is where the learning takes root. At Ummah Jameelah, play is not the outcome; it is the method. Through gentle, child-centred experiences, children develop a love of learning, confidence in themselves, and a connection to their faith in ways that feel natural, joyful and meaningful. 🧡

✨ Week in Review ✨

Last week, our children celebrated Eid together with special in-house festivities filled with joy, friendship, and gratitude. From sharing treats and laughter to reflecting on the blessings of Eid, it was a beautiful way to strengthen our sense of community and belonging.

We pray all our families had a blessed and joyful Eid. 🌙💛

📚✨ Introducing the Ummah Jameelah Homework & Iqra Club ✨📚

We are excited to launch a pilot of our newest after-school program, commencing Tuesday 9 June at our Fawkner location.

For children aged 5–12 years, each session includes a 20-minute private Iqra/Qur’an lesson and a 40-minute homework support session. Children are welcome to bring their own schoolwork, or we can provide learning activities in requested subjects including English, Mathematics, Science and other school-based subjects upon request.

Designed for male and female students aged 5–12 from homeschooling, public school and Islamic school backgrounds, our Homework & Iqra Club provides a nurturing space where children can receive individualised support with both their academic learning and Islamic studies.

Facilitated by certified Iqra and Qur’an teachers, each session is focused on encouraging confidence, building strong foundations, and helping children progress at their own pace in a warm, welcoming and faith-centred environment.

With three after-school session times available, families can choose an option that best suits their needs.

This pilot program is the first step towards our vision of offering Homework & Iqra Club permanently across all Ummah Jameelah locations, including Deer Park and other Melbourne communities, insha’Allah.

✨ Week in Review ✨

As we wrapped up our final lesson before the Eid break, our children reflected on the beautiful gift of parents and the importance of showing love, gratitude and kindness to them. 💛

This week, children created special take-home gifts for their parents, practised a dua for parents, continued memorising simple surahs, and explored our Letter of the Week through hands-on sensory play in sand trays. Alongside this, our playgroups continued to be filled with meaningful moments of connection, discovery and joy.

This 2-hour weekly session follows the same warm and engaging approach as our early years program, with more in-depth, age-appropriate Islamic Studies and Arabic to support your child’s growing understanding, confidence, and connection to their deen.
