With Cyclone Alfred expected to keep moving towards Southern QLD Coast, Here are some important tips on how to prepare 🌀🌊
1. Stay Informed:
- Monitor weather updates/track movements from reliable sources such as meteorological services or local authorities.
2. Create an Emergency Kit:
- Include essentials like water, non-perishable food, a flashlight, extra batteries, a first aid kit, medications, and important documents.
- Dont forget items like a portable chargers, toiletries, and hygiene products.
3. Secure Your Home:
- Close all windows, doors, and shutters, or board/tape up windows if necessary.
- clear yard of debris
- Trim trees and shrubs to reduce the risk of falling branches.
- Ensure your roof, gutters, and drains are secure and clear of debris.
4. Evacuation Plan:
- Know the safest evacuation routes and shelters in your area.
- Make sure your family knows where to meet in case you get separated.
- Plan for pets, as they may need to be evacuated too.
5. Flood Preparation:
- If you’re in a flood-prone area, elevate valuable items and important documents to higher ground.
- Consider sandbags or other flood barriers if you live near low-lying areas.
6. Emergency Contacts:
- Have a list of emergency contacts, including local authorities, family members, and neighbors.
