Recently moved to Cairns and looking for a new financial adviser?

Moving to Far North Queensland can mean a new home, a new lifestyle and, for many people, a new stage of life.

If you've left your financial adviser behind — or retirement is now starting to feel a lot closer — it may be a good time to review your financial plans.

At Smart Wealth Financial Solutions, we specialise in superannuation and retirement planning, helping people approaching retirement understand where they are today and put a clear strategy in place for the years ahead.

Chris Leishman CFP® has been providing financial advice in the Cairns region for over 25 years, with advice covering:

✓ Superannuation reviews and investment strategies
✓ Retirement planning and retirement income
✓ Transition to Retirement strategies
✓ Super contribution strategies
✓ Centrelink Age Pension planning
✓ Investments and wealth management
✓ Personal insurance
✓ Aged care financial advice

If you've recently relocated to Cairns, you don't need to continue dealing with an adviser hundreds or thousands of kilometres away.

Deal with a local adviser who understands Cairns, understands retirement planning and is here when you need them.

Paying too much tax? Are you making the most of your super?

For many Australians approaching retirement, superannuation can be one of the most effective ways to build retirement savings while potentially reducing tax.

But are you actually using the contribution opportunities available to you?

Depending on your circumstances, there may be strategies worth considering, including:

✓ Concessional super contributions
✓ Carry-forward unused concessional contribution caps
✓ Salary sacrifice or personal deductible contributions
✓ Spouse contributions
✓ Non-concessional contributions
✓ Downsizer contributions
✓ Structuring contributions as you approach retirement

The important part isn't simply contributing more to super — it's understanding how much to contribute, when to contribute and which strategy is appropriate for you.

If retirement is getting closer, now may be the ideal time to review whether your superannuation and tax strategies are working together effectively.

Could you be paying less tax today while building more wealth for retirement?

Let's find out.

🏡 Downsizing your home as part of your retirement plans?

Selling the family home can free up significant capital — but deciding what to do with that money can have important consequences for your retirement.

You may be able to contribute some of the sale proceeds to superannuation using the downsizer contribution rules, but simply putting more money into super isn't necessarily the whole answer.

If you are receiving — or hoping to qualify for — the Centrelink Age Pension, the way your assets are structured after selling your home may also affect your future entitlement.

At Smart Wealth Financial Solutions, we can help you understand how downsizing fits into your overall retirement strategy, including:

✓ Downsizer contributions to superannuation
✓ Superannuation and retirement income strategies
✓ Centrelink Age Pension implications
✓ How the sale proceeds could affect your financial position
✓ Structuring your assets for retirement
✓ Creating sustainable retirement income
✓ Making the most of your next financial chapter

Downsize the house — not your retirement lifestyle.

Before deciding what to do with the proceeds from your home, get advice about how the pieces fit together.

ALWAYS ASSUMED YOU'D NEVER QUALIFY FOR THE AGE PENSION?
You might be surprised.

Many Australians enter retirement believing they have too much in super or too many assets to ever receive the Centrelink Age Pension.

But the rules are more flexible than many people realise.

With the right retirement planning, some people are able to improve their Age Pension entitlement while maintaining their lifestyle and protecting their wealth.

We can help you understand:

✔ Will you qualify for the Age Pension?
✔ When is the best time to apply?
✔ How does Centrelink assess your superannuation?
✔ Could restructuring your retirement income improve your entitlement?
✔ Are there legitimate strategies that may increase your Age Pension?
✔ How can you maximise both your retirement income and government benefits?

You may be closer to qualifying than you think.

Many retirees are surprised to discover they may be eligible for:

A part Age Pension
The Commonwealth Seniors Health Card
Pension Concession Card benefits
Additional government concessions and rebates

The first step is understanding your options.
