🐝 Happy World Bee Day! 🐝
Did you know that about 90 percent of all bees in the world are solitary?
This means that they do not live in colonies, do not serve a queen nor make honey, but they are very efficient pollinators. Solitary bees usually build individual nests in hollow stalks and holes in soil, sand, clay, mortar, or wood. 🌳🌸
Multiple factors such as pesticides, urbanization and climate change directly threaten the survival of bees and several bee species are considered as endangered.
The good news is that anyone, including you, can help the bees out! Start growing bee friendly flowers in which they can find nectar, whether that’s from you garden, balcony or windowsills. Build a small insect shelter where they can make their nest. Try to buy sustainable honey and organic food and avoid using any kind of pesticides! 🍯
Most importantly, learn about the bees and their different species, pay attention to them in your surroundings and you will live in harmony together. 🌼🐝
