What a thriller last weekend! Barron River defeated Rovers in a last-over nail-biter, scraping home 9 wickets down to snatch the Optimus 1 Insurance Brokers Shield! 💥

The win marks Barron’s first hold of the season, and they’ll be looking to defend it this weekend as they host Norths.

Can Barron retain the Shield just one week after claiming it or will Norths, winners of the past two seasons, take it straight back? 👀

🎉 Norths Cricket Cairns ARE THROUGH TO TAKE ON Mulgrave Combined Cricket Association IN THE GRAND FINAL! 🏏💥

Norths also secured the Optimus 1 Insurance Brokers shield for the 2024/25 season with their win on the weekend! Thanks very much to Optimus 1 for the support again this year and if you need your insurance reviewed make sure you go and visit Trennt and Barry. 🏆💪

Today Norths Cricket Cairns will host Cassowary Coast Cyclones at GP2 in 1st grade and the Optimus 1 Insurance Brokers Shield will be up for grabs! Can Norths who've had it all season retain it again, or is Cassowary Coast going to claim it right at the end of the season.

The club who is the holder it at the end of the season wins $1000 for their club and begin next season as the holders!

Interesting fact: The shield will also be up for grabs in the finals if the team holding it is the home team in a final!

Cricket Far North 🏏 lets gooooooo!

Today sees the return of 1st grade with some big matches being played:

Mulgrave host Rovers in a big game for both clubs, Rovers are looking to get a win to kick start 2025 and push for finals whilst Mulgrave are looking to stay top of the table with a win.

Norths host Cassowary Coast with the Optimus 1 Insurance Brokers shield up for grabs. Norths have held it all season after winning it last season and are looking to continue their hold on the shield whilst cassowary are looking to spoil the party and take the shield back south with them!

Mareeba Cricket host Atherton Cricket Club in the battle for king of the hill. A key match for both teams with the winner going to 3rd spot and with only 3 teams playing finals, this match should be a cracker!

Barron River Cricket Club have the bye.

To finish off the year we have top of the 1st grade table clash with Norths Cricket Cairns hosting Mulgrave Combined Cricket with the winner going to outright first!

Can Norths hold onto the Optimus 1 Insurance Brokers shield? The last game before the Christmas break shield holder with a $500 check for the club is awarded.

Norths Cricket Cairns have held it all season so can they retain it again, or will Mulgrave claim it right at the right time. All will be revealed this afternoon.

Norths Cricket Cairns held onto the Optimus 1 Insurance Brokers shield after their win on Saturday against Mareeba Cricket on Saturday.

Norths play two away game before hosting Mulgrave on December 21st when the shield will be up for grabs again.

Lock December 21st into the calendar as it’ll be a massive game to decide who will be the holder over Christmas and win $500 for their club.
