Far North Queensland Hospital Foundation really does nail this event every year… this one just happened to raise $1.1 million.
Not all superheroes wear capes…
some ride to Cooktown in the Cardiac Challenge.
The rest of us raise money too, just with champagne instead of Lycra. Same goal, very different levels of cardio.
The FNQLD Hospital Foundation donor dinner is one of those nights where community shows up as connections. A room full of people catching up, reconnecting and backing a very good cause, raising funds to bring ECMO capability to Cairns Hospital.
Dr Ken Chapman opened with “community”, and you could feel it.
Then Brett Goodban shared his story of survival thanks to ECMO. A reminder that this equipment is the reason he’s here to tell the story.
Nu Nu Restaurant delivered an outstanding menu, and the band, The MARIAs, had me briefly convinced I could dance.
Turns out saving lives and supporting your regional hospital pairs very well with champagne, which is convenient, because I’m clearly doing my part.
Any donation will be greatly appreciated by the foundation and those they serve. https://fundraising.fnqhf.org.au/donate
