AFCA have agreed with QBE's decision to decline a claim due to faulty workmanship, given it is specifically excluded under the PDS.

It is important to note that Faulty Workmanship is a common exclusion, and should a claim arise from this, it could potentially lead to a declinature.

Understanding your policy wording is very important! In this instance, a Landlord submitted a claim for "malicious damage", however the majority of the damage was from tenant neglect, poor housekeeping, and unhygienic living habits. This was excluded under the PDS.

A landlord has won a partial payout during a claim dispute after evicted tenants left broken windows, graffiti and missing taps - although the majority of the damage was ruled to be subject to a policy exclusion for poor housekeeping and unhygienic habits.

Allianz have declined a claim after discovering that the Insured had failed to notify them of 13 motor claims in the past 5 years. If Allianz had been advised of these claims during the inception of the policy, they would not have insured the risk.

From the 31 March 2021, for new and renewal business, Vero will cease to provide construction and home, landlord and private motor insurance through their broker partners in Australia. For anyone currently insured with Vero, we will re-quote your policies at renewal with our other insurers and contact you accordingly.

Vero will no longer sell consumer and construction insurance through Australian brokers in changes announced by Suncorp today as it continues to simplify and review its operations.
