Fire Action Week, 19 to 25 October, is Victoria’s annual fire planning and preparation awareness week.

It's time to increase your understanding of the fire risk where you live, how to prepare your property and talk to your loved ones about what you’ll do to stay safe from fire.

Start now by:
• Preparing your property and clean up green waste and debris
• Make a bushfire plan for yourself and your loved ones
• Keeping an eye out for our Fire Safety Essentials workshops in the coming weeks

Nearly three-quarters of all taxpayers rely on tax practitioners to get their taxes right. The vast majority of these practitioners act with integrity and professionalism. ⁣⁣

Many out there offering services are not registered, the good news is you can check if your tax agent is registered!⁣⁣
⁣⁣
As well as displaying the appropriate symbol for their type of registration and with their registration number (see symbols in the picture) your tax agent should be in the tax practitioners board register.⁣⁣

The Tax Practitioners Board (TPB) urges anyone using the services of a tax agent, or considering engaging a new one, is urged to check the register to avoid the risk of potentially being exposed to fraud or unexpected tax liabilities and penalties.⁣⁣

Have you submitted your Tax return already?

Have you lodged your tax and now you've got ants in your pants? 🐜🐜🐜Waiting for your tax refund can feel like forever, so to help you get a better idea of how long it should take here's some info...

The ATO advises approx 10 business days if you have lodged on line and up to 50 business days if you lodged by paper (yes that's still a thing!).

Also, don't mistake receiving a receipt as a sign of an imminent ATO deposit into your bank.

The top tip is to log into your MYGov account and track the progress from there, look out for the 'Issued - $ amount' which means you'll soon have your notice of assessment and payment date.

Then you just have to plan how to spend it!
