Do you on charge your merchant fees? Not anymore. From October 1st you are prohibited from passing on these fees. Speak with us about the new rules.

💳 Card payment surcharge changes are coming!

From 1 October 2026, businesses can't apply a separate surcharge when customers pay by card. This includes Visa, Mastercard, eftpos and American Express transactions.

Until then, businesses must continue to follow the current card payment surcharging laws.

📢 Important!
Businesses will still pay card processing fees, although reduced interchange fee caps may help lower costs for small businesses.

These changes only affect card payment surcharges. Other charges, such as hospitality weekend and public holiday surcharges, booking fees and similar fees, are not affected.

✅ What should businesses do now?
Review your pricing, payment processes and payment provider arrangements ahead of the changes to understand how they may affect your costs and customers.
