Buying a home is a big moment. Feeling supported through it matters.

I received this feedback recently:

“Shane went above and beyond to ensure I received the support and service to help me with my home purchase.”

The word support is the part that means the most to me.

There can be plenty of questions, decisions and moving parts when buying a home.

My job is to help make those conversations easier to understand, keep people informed and make sure they know what comes next.

Because home lending isn't just about getting an application completed.

It's about helping someone feel confident and supported throughout the journey.

What would make you feel ready to buy a home?

For some people, it is hitting a savings goal.

For others, it is getting a better idea of what they could comfortably afford.

Sometimes it is simply understanding the process well enough that it stops feeling overwhelming.

There is no perfect answer.

But knowing what is holding you back is usually the first step toward having a clearer plan.

So I’m curious:

My 3D printer has officially created a new hobby. 😂

Leave it behind for someone to find.

This one made the trip to Canberra.

The big question was:

Where should I leave him?

Hopefully someone found him and took him home.

I took the opportunity to head to lunch at Loganlea State High School yesterday. They run a restaurant called Campfire Dreaming which is run by the students. My son (the tall one in the middle) was in the kitchen today and so where his school mates. Its such a great experience for the parents/teachers and from what I see on the restaurant floor and in the kitchen, its something that the students enjoy. Phoenix talks about it all the time and has me trial cook the meals with him at home in the weeks leading up to it. Today I took Jordain Marshall and Bianca Feher to lunch ( Agnes Alison you're coming to the next one, block your calendar). Bianca and I had the steak sandwich while Jordain had the Moroccan pumpkin, haloumi and chicken salad. The food was delicious, the service was fast and friendly. Thank you Loganlea State High School for putting together such a wonderful thing for the students to be involved in.

From finding me on Facebook… to putting the SOLD sticker on her new home. 🏡🎉

This one made my day.

I first connected with Holly through Facebook, and we ended up completing all of our appointments by phone and Teams.

We talked through the questions.

Worked through the process.

And explored how the Help to Buy scheme could form part of her home-buying journey.

Now she is getting ready to settle on her new home. 🙌

There is something pretty special about seeing that SOLD sticker go up when you know the story behind it.

Congratulations on the new home, and thank you for letting me share this moment.

Saved your deposit? Great.

But please don’t assume every dollar needs to go into buying the house.

Your deposit is only one part of the overall picture.

There can also be costs around buying, moving and getting settled.

And ideally, you want a little breathing room left once you actually get the keys.

Because buying your first home is exciting.

Living in it with five dollars and half a coffee voucher left?

Slightly less exciting. 😅

Episode 7 of First Home Buyer Files is all about thinking beyond the deposit.

The goal is not just to buy the home.

It is to still feel comfortable once you are living in it.
