Feat. spleen sandwich, better known as:

🛺 Wild ride Tuk-tuking through Palermo’s medieval street layouts.
🏰 Palaces. Monreale Cathedral. FUN! Kept my offal sammich down!

🎭 Opera dei Pupi. Wooden puppets. The plot? Chaos.

🌃 Love the Palermo nightlife BTW 🍸

🧀 Cheese making then into Cefalù — and yes, the White Lotus coastline.

Wrapped it all with Sicilian canapés on our terrace and goodbyes no one really wanted to say.

🍋 Sicily | Agrigento → Marsala → Erice → Trapani

I've lost track of the days & found carb-based enlightenment instead. 🍷

🏛️ Villa Romana del Casale — every inch covered in 4th-century tile work. Like, in waaay better condition than my bathroom....
Then the Valley of the Temples, where Greece played a part (must Google that bit later..)

✨ at the gorgeous   Agriturismo,
followed by a cooking class & olive oil tasting.
I contributed moral support (again).
Checked out the first olive press of the season — I do love a food production facility with benefits!

🍷 Marsala called — and yes, we answered.
Tasting Marsala in Marsala - go figure!
The oldest winery in the region — Curatolo Arini 1875 —
Then on to the Salt Pans of Marsala before checking into   —
OMG moment.

🍕 Cooking class with a heck of a view — rustic couscous, wood-fired pizza,
and one overly confident falcon cameo. Fingers: still intact.
Afternoon trip to Erice, a cloud-covered medieval town

🛍️ Trapani wrap-up for a little aperitivo and back to the Baglio for more wine, naturally.

🍋 Two Weeks, One Island, Zero Regret, Bigger Pants.

The Food Diary.

Days 1 & 2 — Catania

🧀 Breakfast, over-ate on the terrace (worth it). Then onto tastings — a little preloading of cheese and olives before lunch, obviously. 🍽️ Shared tables in Piazza del Duomo, an Aperol spritz, got to stay hydrated...
🏛️ Wander around Piazza del Duomo / The Elephant’s Fountain / Fontana dell’Amenano / The Cathedral / Palazzo Municipio / Roman Ruins / Castel Ursino / Bellini Gardens and Theatre.
🏠 Sleepovers at Palace Asmundo di Gisira — an 18th-century art palace, every room themed differently. A little something for everyone (especially if you’re into pottery design IYKYK 😉🍆).

 
Next day,
🐟 Fish & Produce Market complete with the shouting, seafood, and 🐎 meatballs, or else it was lost in translation
👩‍🍳 Cooking Class — pasta alla Norma, swordfish rolls, cannoli. I mostly pretended to peel and roll something. Speaking of rolls…came to Sicily with a full set of rolls, can’t wait for reality of after the end of this trip!
🍷 Evening up in Milo at Barone di Villagrande — vines since 1727, sunset tasting, zero sense of time already.

🌅 Day 3 Hit the coast past Acireale, Aci Trezza & Aci Castello and into Taormina, Messina, a little trek through a Greek Theatre with Mt Etna smouldering behind it.
🍸 A cheeky little cocktail at Grand Hotel Timeo possibly cost more than my first car.
🌄 Swing by Castelmola, for a gelati 🍨, in anticipation of a gorgeous dinner back in Catania.

And this was only Day 3, I think.... 🤔
