African Professionals of Australia - Queensland Creating a vibrant community of African Australians who excel personally & professionally, and positively impact the community

The African Professionals of Australia (APA) is one of the largest non-for-profit African organisations in Australia. Founded in 2007 in Perth, WA, APA currently has a national membership of 2500 members represented by 30 countries and 25 different professions. The company became national in 2010, and we saw the birth of APA New South Wales in June 2011. APA currently has four chapters in Western

Australia, New South Wales, Victoria, and the Australian Capital Territory. We are very excited to announce that the 5th chapter is due to be launched on the 26th of March 2015 in the state of Queensland. The main purpose of APA is to empower professionals of African origin to reach their full potential in their respective professions. This includes providing a platform to pursue and achieve continued professional relevance and impact on the Australian community at large. APA is governed by the Australian Corporations Act 2001 and is owned and managed by its members. APA is dedicated to the personal and professional success of African-Australian professionals and has in place several programs and initiatives aimed toward maximum utilisation of available resources to achieve its intended objectives. APA offers its member's leadership training, professional development, mentoring opportunities, career placement services and more. The organisation currently has four active chapters in Australia, with each chapter governed and operated by an active and dedicated unpaid executive board of professionals.

We are pleased to announce that formal notice has been issued to all financial members for the Extraordinary General Meeting (EGM), which will be held on Saturday, June 13, 2026.

The EGM represents an important opportunity to engage with our financial members, provide key business updates, and discuss matters that will help shape the future direction of the organisation.

The report reflects our ongoing commitment to delivering meaningful and measurable impact for our stakeholders.

We look forward to connecting with our financial members and sharing our journey, achievements, and future ambitions.

๐Ÿ’ก Networking Tip ๐Ÿ’ก

Insight from Qiniso Dube ๐Ÿ‘‡

Itโ€™s not just about who you know โ€” itโ€™s about the value you bring.

When reaching out to a mentor, donโ€™t just askโ€ฆ
โœจ Show what you can offer
โœจ Bring energy & commitment
โœจ Make it mutually valuable

Mentorship is a two-way street.

Lead with value. Always.

The difference? Communication.

This week at the APA x BCC Masterclass on Pitching for Business, we explored how to clearly communicate your value so the right people say yes.

Huge thank you to all the founder-led businesses from the African professional community for bringing incredible energy to the session ๐Ÿ”ฅ

And special thanks to Brenda Denbesten for sharing powerful, practical insights, and Aletana Ajulo for leading such an engaging conversation.
