Connection matters.

Across Queensland, new initiatives are strengthening su***de prevention efforts through community programs, workforce training, research, and targeted support for people who may be at greater risk of experiencing mental health challenges.

At Supported Care, we know that early intervention, meaningful connections, and access to the right support can make a significant difference. It is encouraging to see continued investment in initiatives that help build stronger, more connected communities.

World Mental Health Day 2025 - A Reminder to Keep Going

Today is not just another date on the calendar.
It is a reminder to slow down, to listen, and to recognise that mental health is not a weakness to fix, but a part of being human to nurture.

Every one of us carries a story.
Some days it is light and full of laughter.
Other days it feels heavier than words can describe.
And for many, that weight is invisible, carried quietly while showing up, smiling, and pretending everything is fine.

So today, let us make space for honesty.
Let us make space for the people who keep going even when they are tired, anxious, grieving, or just trying to hold it all together.
Because that is strength.

1 in 5 Australians will experience a mental health condition at some point.
But that statistic is not just a number.
It represents our colleagues, our friends, our residents, our families, and sometimes, it represents us.

If you take anything from today, let it be this:

- Connection is medicine.
- Kindness is prevention.
- Listening is intervention.

You do not need the perfect words to help someone.
You just need to be there, to notice, to ask, and to stay.

And if you are the one struggling right now, please know that you are not a burden.
You are not alone.
There is help, there is hope, and there are people who genuinely care.

If you need to talk, reach out:

πŸ“ž 13YARN (for First Nations support): 13 92 76 (24/7)
πŸ“ž Kids Helpline: 1800 55 1800 (24/7)

If it is an emergency, please call 000.

πŸ’š Today, on World Mental Health Day, let us move beyond awareness.

Let us build communities where asking for help feels normal.
Where caring for mental health is not a campaign but a shared responsibility.
And where no one ever feels they have to walk alone.

Everyone has potential. Sometimes, all it takes is the right support at the right time.

When David moved into Clayfield House, he brought with him a clear set of goals and a strong desire to work. But after more than a year with a Disability Employment Service and no job offers, his motivation was starting to wear thin.

Our team saw the situation differently. We saw opportunity, not limitation.

With the right support, David was linked to the Assessment and Referral Team and gained access to the NDIS. Once his first plan was in place, everything began to shift.

Since then, David has been reconnecting with the things he loves. A passionate car enthusiast, he travelled to the Gold Coast to attend the Cooly Rocks On festival, visited the Bee Gees Hall of Fame in Redcliffe, and explored a local museum. These moments brought joy, purpose and a renewed sense of confidence.

Today, David is on a work trial with the Endeavour Foundation at Eagle Farm. He now works two days a week and is well on his way to achieving the independence he always wanted.

This kind of transformation doesn't happen by chance. It takes a consistent team effort, genuine care, and belief in the person at the centre of the journey.

We are proud to walk alongside individuals like David. His story is a reminder of what’s possible when we focus on people first.
