Most efficient shredx! I am trying to go paperless scanning all client's old files - this is where they will end up. Nice and toasty doing it up here in the mountains.
Bossy little lorikeets rule the roost.
Hope everyone is also able to make the most of uncertain times just now. Look after you and yours.

It has been an absolute pleasure serving you for 20 years and watching your businesses grow into where they are today. I wish to take this opportunity to thank you for your business and continued loyalty.

For those of you who have been with me since the beginning I thank you for your trust and giving me the opportunity to support you.

Even though I still love bookkeeping, and don't think I will ever stop altogether, it is now time for me to hand over the reins to someone with a much younger outlook especially with nowadays electronics. This will be happening at 30 June, 2020. Belinda has been learning the ropes with me for 4 years now, has completed her Certificate IV in Accounting, and is very competent in all that we do. We are also being joined by Jean Barham, who has a long background in bookkeeping for her family business.

In my early days of bookkeeping, I never thought I will still be around in 20 years.

You won't be getting rid of me entirely, as I will still be helping out in any way that is required.

My Xmas get together was at the Rathlogan Olive Grove with L to R, Jean, Belinda, myself, Shenya and Ru (Techbug Computers, my computer wizard), and Fabian (Belinda's other half who has been a client since early 2000's).

ATTENTION EMPLOYERS

CHRISTMAS EVE DECLARED PART-DAY PUBLIC HOLIDAY IN QUEENSLAND

On 27 November 2019, the proposed legislation to enshrine 6pm – midnight on Christmas Eve as a public holiday was passed by Queensland Parliament. The approval of the Bill had been anticipated, given the recommendation of the Education, Employment and Small Business Committee that the proposed legislation be passed, despite the fact it was universally opposed by employer groups during the consultation process.

The result is that 6pm to midnight on Christmas Eve is now enshrined as a part-day public holiday in Queensland which means workers can reasonably refuse to perform shifts during this period and, in the case of award-covered employees, work performed after 6pm on Christmas Eve will now attract the designated public holiday penalty set by the employee’s prevailing industrial instrument (in many cases, this will be double time and a half). Permanent (full-time or part-time) employees who would ordinarily have rostered hours between 6pm – midnight on 24 December are also entitled to be absent during the period, without loss of pay, unless their employer reasonably requires them to work.

Other Public Holidays are Christmas Day 25th December, Boxing Day 26th December 2019 and for 2020, New Years' Day 1st January, Australia Day Monday 27th January, Good Friday 10 April, Holy Saturday 11 April and Easter Sunday 12 April, Easter Monday 13 April, ANZAC Day Saturday 25 April, Labour Day Monday 4 May and Queen's Birthday Monday 5 October.

For those who pay wages, we have survived the introduction of Single Touch Payroll. Now Workcover renewal is coming up, and I urge everyone to pay by 16 September to make the most of their generous discounts.

After attending a seminar today, I thought I should let those who may not be aware, know that from 1 July 2019 employers with 19 or less employees will need to conform with new regulations for Single Touch Payroll when you need to report employer payments (wages) electronically to ATO with every payrun. We will be implementing this in the new year to be ready for 1 July 2019!

25/09/2017

Monthly superannuation guarantee contribution is due 28th for those who report monthly.

20/09/2017

Just in case you might have got caught up in other things, those who lodge monthly IAS's (payg on wages or tax instalments) need to do so by today.

12/09/2017

Don't forget to pay your Workcover premium before 16th to receive the substantial discount.
