Finalist again!

Our Director Ian Brown has been named a finalist for the 2026 Lenders' Choice Broker of the Year with Optimise.

Ian won this award last year, so we will admit the bar is set a little high this time.

What we like most about this award is who decides the winner. It isn't customers or a panel of judges. It is the lenders, the people who see our files every day. They know whether the paperwork is right the first time, whether the client application is correct and whether the deal actually makes sense.

Making the final 3 two years running means a lot

It also matters for our clients. Lenders who trust a broker's work are more willing to take a look at a deal that doesn't tick every box. That is often the difference between a no and a yes.

D moved from New Zealand less than two years ago and has been in the current job for 7 months.

When you first land, the list of lenders who will look at a 444 visa holder is short. Stay a while, hold down a job and start building a credit history here, and more doors start to open.

Lisa had been in Australia for less than 3 months, and in her new job for less than 3 months.

She needed a car. She was also pretty sure nobody would lend her the money for one.

⭐ Another 5-STAR experience with Royston Finance ⭐

Séamus first got in touch with us back in July.

He had been in Australia for just under 3 years, in the same job for the same time, and was waiting on his 482 visa to be granted.

He wanted a ute. The timing just wasn't right yet.

So we talked it through, told him exactly what he would need, and agreed to pick it back up once the grant came through.

This month it did. Séamus got back in touch and we got straight to work.

Why 34 months? Most lenders want a loan on a temporary visa paid off before the visa ends. We set the term so it finishes inside his 482, which kept the lender comfortable and the approval clean.

In his words, he "had to do next to nothing."

That is how it should feel. The hard work is our job, not yours.

Plenty of lenders get nervous about a temporary visa, and plenty of people assume a pending grant means they have to wait months to even ask the question. Neither has to stop you.

For a small team like ours, that number means a lot.

Every one of those reviews represents a real person we have helped. Someone who needed a reliable car to get to work. A family upgrading to something bigger.

Some were fresh off the plane with no Australian credit file. Some had been here a little longer on a bridging visa and had been told no everywhere else. Others have lived here for years as permanent residents or citizens.

"How are these guys not all over the internet!!!"

That is how Yvette started her Google review this week. We will happily take it.

Yvette first came to us in January. She was on a bridging visa, waiting on her PR which was likely to be 6-9 months away and needed finance for a ute. Not many lenders want to know you on a bridging visa, so this one took some work.

We found a lender that would say yes and negotiated the rate down for her however, it was still on the higher side than we would like.

We got the approval and we had a look at the invoice for the ute she had found. The deal didn't stack up.

So our vehicle sourcer went looking for the same make/ model and came back with a better ute:

• Younger
• Fewer kms
• A better spec
• And, most importantly, a lower price

That alone saved her thousands.

From day one we told Yvette this loan was a stepping stone.

Once her PR came through, we would refinance her onto a much better deal. We even gave her some indicative numbers up front.

Her visa was granted recently and she got back in touch, and Ian took it from there. Within 2 weeks everything was signed, sealed and under a new finance company.

The final result beat our own estimates:
• 6 months taken off the loan
• $5k saved overall

Brad and his wife had been in Australia for a couple of days, and they were starting their new job Tuesday.

They had found a 2020 Volkswagen Touareg, dealership said they couldn't help so they went to their bank. The bank said no.

It wasn't that they were bad customers. The approach was wrong. There was no time in the country, no time in the job and a 444 visa, so not a lot of lenders will be jumping for the business.

Ian answered the call and came in on a Saturday to get started and make some calls. He found a lender who was happy to say yes, and at a very sharp rate.

Brad thought it was a dead end. Being told no by your own bank does that.

A new Google review has landed! Gets us to 199 so far.

Aaron moved to Australia from the UK a few years back and was shopping around for finance on a 2025 GWM now he had a 482 visa grant. He had already found a few prices elsewhere for the finance and the car.

We found him a better prices on both.

Moving countries means starting over financially. You might have a solid credit history back home, but it doesn't count for much here. Plenty of lenders don't know what to do with a customers from overseas, and plenty of people end up paying more than they should because of it.

What we did for Aaron, we compared lenders who work with recent migrants, instead of the first one that said yes

Beat the quotes he had already found

Told him every cost up front, so nothing new turned up at signing
