We are proud to announce that this year’s Stuart Hargreaves Scholarship has been awarded to Ella Iaria, a 4th year apprentice with .

Ella’s journey into the industry began early with her family owning a local cabinet making business. Now well into her apprenticeship, Ella is focused on developing exposure across all stages of the craft.

“I love being a cabinet maker, but I’d also love to continue expanding my skills within the trade. I want to learn all aspects of the job - from the initial contact with clients, to quoting, drawing and designing projects, right through to delivering their dream cabinetry.”

The scholarship will directly support Ella in completing her tool kit, enabling her to continue developing her technical capability and deliver high-quality custom work with confidence.

Reflecting on her experience working in a predominantly male industry, Ella has found it to have been inclusive and supportive.

“The workplace feels more like a family than just a job. It’s been easy to fit in with Brady and the team at Ovens Valley Cabinets because everyone is treated equally and supported." Ella says. "And as a female, I sometimes see things from a different perspective to my male colleagues, and I think that brings value to the workplace and helps create a more balanced team environment.”

Beyond her own journey, Ella is passionate about encouraging women to consider a trade career.

“Sometimes the things that seem the hardest at first can end up being some of the best decisions you ever make. I’d love to encourage other girls to back themselves and give it a go.”

She also reflects on the importance of community support and opportunities like the Stuart Hargreaves scholarship.

“I’m really grateful that our community offers opportunities like this for young people. It has already helped me in my working life and given me a great opportunity to grow, and I’d love for other young people to experience the same support.”

Congratulations Ella! We look forward to seeing your continued growth as you build your future in the trade. 🔨👏

Customer Spotlight ✨REED & CO. DISTILLERY✨

Reed & Co Distillery is an award-winning, family-owned distillery, bar and restaurant based in the heart of Bright, Victoria.

Owned by local chefs-turned-distillers, Rachel Reed and Hamish Nugent, Reed & Co. celebrates its 10-year anniversary this year. In that time, the business has become known for beautiful, innovative spirits, warm hospitality, and a food-led approach to flavour.

While many people know Reed & Co. for gin, Rachel and Hamish have also helped pioneer Australian Shochu through their Koji Spirits range, creating a uniquely Australian take on the traditional Japanese spirit. Alongside the distillery and tasting room, their onsite restaurant, Koji Bird, brings together Japanese-inspired food, woodfire cooking, local produce and beautifully matched drinks.

In their precious free time, Rachel and Hamish enjoy being outside with their two children, making the most of the rivers, trails and mountain landscapes that make Bright such a special place to live and work.

For long-time locals Rachel and Hamish, supporting the community that supports them has always mattered.

That’s why they choose to bank locally.

“Running a small business in a regional area comes with plenty of challenges, but for us, banking isn’t one of them,” Hamish said. “Knowing we can walk into the Community Bank Bright branch, speak to someone we know, and deal with people who understand both our business and the community we’re part of is hugely important. The added bonus is knowing that by banking locally, we’re helping reinvest money back into the community we love.”

Thank you, Rachel and Hamish, for banking local. Here’s to 10 years of passion, craft, and community - and many more to come.
