It was a privilege today to catch up with two of our Health and Wellbeing Scholarship recipients in Goulburn. Renae, one of our 2025 recipients, and Sam, a recipient from this year’s program.

Both shared how the support has helped them pursue their studies and continue working towards careers that will make a real difference in the health and wellbeing of our communities.

These conversations are a powerful reminder of the positive impact our Scholarship Program can have.

As a community-focused organisation, we are proud to support local talent through our scholarship program, made possible by our profit-for-purpose model and the ongoing support of our customers.

Thank you, Renae and Sam, for sharing your journeys with us. We look forward to their stories featuring in the August edition of Bacon & Eggs Magazine in Goulburn.

A big thank you to all of our customers and members for your continued support of our Community Bank BDCU branches.

At our Goulburn branch, just like across all of our Community Bank BDCU locations we pride ourselves on providing a warm welcome, genuine personal service, and taking the time to truly know our customers and their stories.

It’s these relationships and community connections that make our branches so special and allow us to continue giving back to the communities we proudly serve.

🐶 Thank You Thursday – Featuring Loyal Locals Earl and Louise 🐶

For years, Earl and Louise have chosen Community Bank BDCU because they value something simple: real people.

They love walking into a branch where they’re greeted by name and can have a real conversation with someone who knows and cares about them. No computers. No call centres. Just local banking, the way it should be.

And of course, there’s Lola. 🐾
Their beautiful girl is a regular visitor and knows exactly where the treats are waiting.

Our loyal customers are the reason Community Bank BDCU can continue investing back into initiatives that matter locally, including the Community Bank BDCU Scholarship Program.

Thank you, Earl and Louise for your continued support and belief in community banking. 💙

There’s nothing quite like seeing local students excited about their future.

The Community Bank BDCU and The Collective Impact teams were proud to be part of the Oxley College & RIEP Career Expo, which brought together more than 700 students from nine schools across the Highlands and Tablelands.

Anyone who remembers Years 11 and 12 knows how overwhelming it can feel trying to work out what comes next. That’s what made this expo so valuable: giving regional students direct access to leading universities, industry experts and local employers, right here in the Highlands. No need to trek across Canberra or Sydney.

The conversations throughout the day were thoughtful and genuinely inspiring. After meeting so many impressive young people, one thing is clear – the future of our region is bright!

We were delighted to speak with students interested in careers in banking and finance and social enterprise while also sharing how the BDCU Group reinvests profits back into the local community.

Thanks to Oxley College and to Neil Bessant from Regional Industry Education Partnerships (NIEP) for the opportunity to be involved in such an important initiative helping young people gain clarity, confidence and direction.

Celebrating the future of our region 🌟

It was wonderful to come together at our Scholarship Breakfast in Goulburn and Afternoon Tea in Bowral to officially present certificates and scholarships to this year’s successful recipients.

Through our Profit for Purpose model, Community Bank BDCU is proud to allocate $50,000 each year for five years to support local apprentices, TAFE students and health and wellbeing workers as they pursue their goals and build strong futures for our communities.

These scholarships are a testament to the power of community banking, all made possible by the ongoing support of our customers, whose banking helps create meaningful local impact.

Congratulations to all recipients, and thank you to everyone who attended and helped celebrate these inspiring individuals and their achievements. Together, we are investing in the people who will shape the future of our region. 💙

Thank You Thursday – featuring Brett from Goulburn Radio Cabs

This week, we’re giving a shout out to Brett – the man behind Goulburn’s only silver cab and a familiar face to plenty of locals. An affiliated member of the Goulburn Radio Cabs Co-Op, Brett has been helping people get where they need to go for the past 16 years.

It all started when he was between jobs and answered an ad for a cab driver. Three years later, he bought his own cab. He’s never looked back.

Ask Brett what he enjoys about the job and it’s not hard to see why he’s still at it. Sure, it’s about reliable transport. But it’s also about people. A chat at the end of a long day. Being there when someone needs a hand getting home. Offering a bit of company between stops.

He says it’s a good way to make a living in the bush – and over the years, many customers have become familiar faces.

We’re proud Brett chooses Community Bank BDCU because we share a belief in the importance of community, connection and looking after locals.

Need a lift around Goulburn? Call 4821 2222 and ask for Brett.
