Out with the old and in with the new! I have recently replaced some old bore pumps with new submersible pumps with an Italian made Variable Frequency Drive. These drives adjust the pump speed for the water flow needed saving power use and pump cycling. The drive also has added features that protect the pump.

With the fire season in full swing, it’s time for a friendly reminder to keep a clear area around your water pumps. Being electrical items, it is possible for them to fail and get hot. Long grass and leaves are all a risk and should be cleared away from around the pump.

This picture shows a pump that has had a failure (most likely the capacitor) which has then melted the electrical components. Luckily the owners had a clear area around the pump which helped to prevent a fire. It is very unlikely for this to happen, but it is possible!
