Three common mistakes first home buyers are making, and how to avoid

Number one: waiting until you have a 20% deposit. You don't always need it. There are government schemes that can get you in with as little as 5%.

Number two: not getting pre-
approved before you start inspecting. You need to know your numbers before you fall in love with a place.

Number three: trying to do things alone. Surround yourself with a good team ie. Broker, Agent and Conveyancer. A broker like me can compare dozens of lenders to find the right fit for you.

Great to connect with fellow brokers and some brilliant BDMs here in Ballarat this week. 🙌

The LMG team made the trip out to regional Victoria for a catch-up session, and it was one of those sessions that reminds you why this industry is so good when everyone comes together.

We heard directly from BDMs representing some genuinely impressive lenders — Pepper Money, Think Tank, Bridgit, Zeus and NGS Capital, covering everything from non-bank residential lending and commercial property finance, to bridging loans, construction finance and niche lending solutions that the major banks simply don’t offer.

As a broker, staying across what’s available in the market isn’t just good practice - it’s how I make sure my clients get the right outcome, not just the obvious one. The more lenders I understand deeply, the better I can match people to products that actually suit their situation.
