Notes for Business Owners - Note #11:
Every week I ask myself one question. Am I a better version of myself today than I was seven days ago?
Not once a year at New Year. Every single week.
Self-awareness is a leader's greatest asset. And the uncomfortable truth is that what frustrates you most in other people is usually something worth examining in yourself first. Before you point at someone else's shortcomings, ask whether you have ever made the same mistake.
I speak to leaders every day who come to me with complaints about their team. My first question is always the same. Did you ever do that yourself?
Look in the mirror honestly. What did you do well this week? What could you have done better? How could you have shown up differently?
The leaders who ask those questions consistently are the ones who grow. The ones who never do stay stuck wondering why nothing around them changes.
