🚨 Scams Awareness Week 🚨

Scammers are getting smarter, and unfortunately their messages, calls and emails can look very convincing.

A few simple reminders can help protect you:

🔹 Don’t click links in unexpected texts or emails
🔹 Never share passwords, PINs or verification codes
🔹 Be cautious if someone pressures you to act or pay quickly
🔹 If a bank, lender or business contacts you unexpectedly, hang up and call them back using a number you know is genuine
🔹 If something doesn’t feel right, stop and check before taking action

When it comes to your finances, it’s always better to double-check.

Stop. Check. Protect.

🌊 Giving back to the place we’re lucky enough to call home 💙

Today I had the opportunity to join Ocean Crusaders and Ocean Rafting for a beach clean-up, helping remove rubbish and marine debris from our beautiful coastline.

It was such a rewarding day — getting out there, getting our hands dirty and doing something practical to help protect our oceans and the incredible environment we get to enjoy here in the Whitsundays. 🌴🌊

A huge thank you to Ocean Crusaders and Ocean Rafting for the amazing work they do and for bringing people together to make a real difference.

⛽ A quick reminder to fuel up this weekend!

The temporary fuel excise relief ends on Sunday, with the full rate returning from Monday, 3 August.

The relief has been reducing petrol and diesel costs by around 16 cents per litre, so filling a 65-litre tank this weekend could save approximately $11 compared with normal prices.

Actual prices and the timing of increases will vary between service stations, but it may be worth topping up before Monday—especially if your tank is already running low!

Every little saving helps. 🚗

⚠️ Is your offset account actually linked to your home loan?

🕵ASIC has recently reported that a number of Australian banks were not correctly setting up or maintaining customers’ offset account arrangements.

🔓In some cases, offset accounts were not linked to the correct home loan, became unlinked after changes were made, or did not provide the interest savings customers reasonably expected.

🤑As a result, banks have had to repay approximately $55 million to affected mortgage customers, with further repayments expected.

This is an important reminder not to assume your offset account is working simply because it is labelled as an “offset”.

Take a moment to check:

✅ Your offset account is linked to the correct loan
✅ It is connected to the correct loan split
✅ The full account balance is being offset
✅ It remained linked after any refinance, restructure or product change
✅ Your interest charges reflect the benefit of your offset balance

If you are not sure, contact your bank and ask them to confirm in writing that your offset account is correctly linked and operating as intended.

A correctly functioning offset account can save you thousands of dollars in interest—but only when it is set up properly.
