Avoid getting scammed twice

If you have recently been caught in a scam, another scammer may attempt to help you 'retrieve' your funds.

These scams often involve a payment that will help this person fund the 'investigation' or repay them for their 'services', when in reality they will just be scamming you out of more money.

If you've been scammed and are unsure what to do next, please follow these tips:

🏦Contact your bank straight away to see if they may be able to assist.

❌Avoid engaging with any 'scam recovery' services, especially if they have reached out to you.

Taking a minute to stop and reach out to your bank, can save you from further scams.

Don't let the scammers 'win'

A Scammer may try to convince you that you have money owed to you in the form of a rebate or winnings from a competition.

These scammers will then ask for your personal or financial details to ‘transfer’ the money to you.

In reality, they are just stealing your personal details.

Below are some steps you can follow to avoid falling for this type of scam:

📃 Don’t share any of your private details with a stranger, especially if they claim that these are for a competition that you haven’t entered.

🌐 Search online to see if you can find out more about the ‘company’ or the competition the ‘prize’ is related to.

Taking a minute to stop and think about these tips can save you from further scams. Remember if something seems too good to be true, it's probably not.

🧡 WOW Day - Wear Orange Wednesday 🧡

🙏 Today is Wear Orange Wednesday (WOW Day), a National Day of Recognition to say ‘thank you’ to all SES volunteers across Australia.

🟠 On WOW Day the public is encouraged to wear orange or hold their own fundraising events to thank all SES volunteers.

As Major Sponsors of the SA SES Volunteers' Association, we are also so grateful for the hard work of the emergency services volunteers and our TTP, Mt Gambier and Contact Centre staff got into the spirit of the day with their orange attire and balloons.

🔥 Other members of our team are also supporting the SA SES volunteers at a special event tonight.
