Congratulations, Principal Kenny! 👏

All here at LLL wish you every blessing as Faith Lutheran College - Plainland embarks on the next exciting chapter under your leadership.

College Chair, Mr Tim Boughen, is delighted to announce the appointment of Mr Tyson Kenny as the new Principal of Faith Lutheran College, Plainland.

After serving our College community for more than 16 years as a valued member of our teaching staff and Senior Leadership Team, Mr Kenny has officially accepted the role following an extensive recruitment process undertaken by College Council.

Mr Kenny is a passionate and servant-hearted leader who lives out Faith’s Christ-centred vision each and every day - always putting God, students, families and staff first. His dedication to our College, commitment to pastoral care, and proven leadership in school improvement and governance make him exceptionally well placed to lead Faith into the future.

In his message to the community, Mr Kenny shared how he feels incredibly blessed by this opportunity and is excited to continue serving alongside the incredible staff, students and families of “Team Faith”.

“I am incredibly humbled and grateful to be appointed as the next Principal at Faith. Having served at Faith Lutheran College for the past 16 years, this community has shaped me profoundly; both personally and professionally. It has been an incredible blessing to journey alongside so many kind, creative, and caring staff, students and families, who have continually encouraged, supported, and inspired me. I am deeply thankful to the many mentors, leaders, and colleagues who have helped shape my own leadership journey. As we move forward together, I am excited to continue co-creating a future that honours our past while embracing the incredible opportunities ahead.”

Please join us in congratulating Mr Kenny on his appointment and wishing him every blessing as he begins this new chapter of leadership at Faith. 💙

LLL GRANTS | What began as an informal monthly catch-up between Adelaide-based Christian artists has grown into an inspiring live album project 🎶

With the support of an LLL Mission Outreach Grant, the young musicians of Handmade Collective gathered at St John’s Lutheran Church, Unley SA, in March to record 10 uplifting songs.

💬 “We wanted to create a useful resource that congregations can use in worship,” said Dan Kitson, bass player, songwriter and a founding member of Handmade Collective.

The band’s first single Be Still, based on Psalm 46 and written by vocalist Isobel Yeend, was released in May, with the full live album slated to be available in June.

Such heartwarming words from Lutheran Youth of Queensland about Darren’s leadership and service.

Darren has clearly made a significant and lasting contribution to LYQ - not only through his leadership, but through his genuine care for people and commitment to the mission of the Church.

We are looking forward to welcoming Darren in July and excited for what the future holds as he takes on his new role as our Head of Mission Engagement.

Wishing Darren and the LYQ community every blessing during this time of transition.

LYQ says Farewell to Darren Pope, our Executive Director.

It is with significant sadness that the LYQ Council announces the resignation of Darren Pope as Executive Director of Lutheran Youth of Queensland. We excitedly share that Darren will continue to serve our Church through his new national role as Head of Mission Engagement with LLL Australia . As LLL Australia Head of Mission Engagement, Darren will serve nationally to strengthen LLL’s connection to its gospel-centred mission by actively engaging with Lutheran and broader Christian communities to co-design impact initiatives and facilitate meaningful outcomes.

Darren will be greatly missed by LYQ, his communication gifts and heart to wholistically support all community members throughout the Lutheran Church will carry him into his new role and as he leaves, the organisation remains in sound financial position, with a clear and transparent vision for the future missional work. His business skills, faith sharing, outstanding people management abilities and servant heart have been a true blessing to all involved in LYQ. We will miss his warm greetings and heartfelt prayers for each individually and as a collective. I share a short excerpt from Darren’s resignation letter.

I wish to extend my deepest and heartfelt thanks to LYQ Council for their diligence in prosecuting good governance and for ongoing prayer support throughout my service of the Council, our team and all the young people we serve together. It has been my great joy and privilege to grow connected, hope-filled people in partnership with you. I pray Gods rich blessings over all involved with and in LYQ ministries and hold each one of you in my prayers throughout the coming recruitment and time of transition for the role.
Your fellow servant.
Darren Pope

LYQ Council will continue to support all members of the LYQ community in this transitionary phase. The Council is grateful for the wonderful contribution of all, and the positivity and grace with which you all bring to this vital ministry. As Darren moves on we hope the next two months will be filled with memory, celebration and acknowledgements.

LYQ Council Chair
