📖 In seinem neuen Buch „Die globale Rechte“ untersucht der Politikwissenschaftler Marcel Lewandowsky, was die unterschiedlichen Strömungen der radikalen und extremen Rechten verbindet, worin sie sich unterscheiden und warum sie derzeit so erfolgreich sind.

💡 Im Mittelpunkt des Abends:
• Die Geschichte der Rechten seit 1945
• Populismus, Demokratie und politische Polarisierung
• Die internationalen Netzwerke der neuen Rechten
• Die Auswirkungen auf Rechtsstaatlichkeit und offene Gesellschaften

🔍 Wie gelingt es rechten Akteuren, sich als Stimme des „Volkes“ zu inszenieren? Und wie können demokratische Gesellschaften auf diese Herausforderung reagieren?

⚡️ Can the green transition really save us from climate change—or are we overlooking its hidden costs? As the demand for renewable energy, electric vehicles, digital technologies and AI continues to grow, so does the global race for critical minerals such as lithium and coltan. These resources are essential for batteries, energy storage and clean technologies, but their extraction often comes with significant environmental and social consequences.

📖 Based on her book “Extraction: The Frontiers of Green Capitalism”, political scientist Thea Riofrancos examines the global struggle over lithium mining and the difficult questions at the heart of the energy transition.

💡 The discussion explores:
• The environmental and social impacts of mineral extraction
• The role of Indigenous and environmental movements
• The geopolitics of critical raw materials
• Whether a green transition can be both sustainable and just

🌍 Der russische Angriff auf die Ukraine, die Eskalation des Nahostkonflikts und neue militärische Konfrontationen stellen die internationale Ordnung vor eine Zerreißprobe. In einer Zeit, in der Machtpolitik oft stärker erscheint als Recht, stellt sich eine zentrale Frage: Kann das Völkerrecht dem Recht des Stärkeren standhalten?

📖 Menschenrechtsanwalt Wolfgang Kaleck plädiert in seinem neuen Buch dafür, das internationale Recht nicht aufzugeben, sondern zu verteidigen und weiterzuentwickeln. Menschenrechte und Völkerrecht sind keine Selbstverständlichkeit – sie sind das Ergebnis jahrzehntelanger Kämpfe für eine gerechtere Welt.

🇺🇦 Last winter, five Ukrainian soldiers, including four veterans with prosthetic legs and a severely wounded servicewoman, set out to climb Mount Kilimanjaro, the world’s highest free-standing mountain.

🎥 Second Wind follows their extraordinary journey from the realities of war to one of the world’s greatest physical and emotional challenges. It is a powerful story of resilience, determination, and the human spirit in the face of unimaginable adversity.

💡 Following the screening, an expert panel will discuss:
• The resilience of Ukrainian society
• The role of veterans in shaping Ukraine’s future
• Ukraine’s democratic and European aspirations
• The broader geopolitical significance of the war

⚠️ Syria is facing a fragile and uncertain transition while the wider Middle East is being reshaped by war and regional upheaval. Economic hardship, weak governance, social tensions and unresolved internal conflicts continue to put pressure on the country’s future.
From Kurdish self-administration in the northeast to the marginalization of the Alawite community and the crisis in the Druze-majority south, Syria’s stability remains deeply contested.
