Hi everyone! Welcome to the FB page to help you ask for your tax back when you worked in Austria.
How do you know if you paid tax? Very easy.. On your payslip, it is mentioned as Lohnsteuer or LSt. If the amount says 0 there, you did not pay tax and it's not refundable.
Also if you were paid cash and you have not been registered anywhere, you didn't pay tax either.
Be aware that they will ask about your situation in your home country, also be prepared to ask for documents at your local tax office.
So if you are registered at the Gemeinde (townhall) with nebenwohnsitz (partly living in Austria or for a short period of time) you get these questions.
However, if you registered with Hauptwohnsitz (fulltime in Austria) in Austria it's super easy to get your money back.
If you earned less than 11.000 euro a year (including the income from your home country) you get all the tax back. Sometimes it's 300 euro, sometimes 3000. Depending on how many years are still open. So you can also ask for tax back for previous years.
In any case you need to have an E CARD! The tax return is only for 2022 or before 2022! 2023 will be available to return in 2024!
