Supporting Early-Stage Startups from Armenia and Beyond to Scale Globally

STAN is a global network of angel investors with a mission to support early-stage technology startups from Armenia and beyond. While we actively scout startups in Armenia and Los Angeles, STAN welcomes innovative startups from anywhere in the world. STAN angels provide financial capital, network support and entrepreneurial

support to help startups scale. While we focus on ecosystems in Armenia and Los Angeles, our reach spans across global startup communities. Currently, over 70% of STAN Angels are based in California, with 20% in Armenia and 10% in Europe. STAN’s Chapter in Los Angeles

Our Los Angeles chapter is established in partnership with Triple S Ventures, a pre-seed to seed-stage VC firm. As part of our international growth, we plan to continue expanding by launching new chapters across key global startup hubs. Stay tuned for more updates! STAN Expert Council

The STAN Expert Council is a community of domain experts who provide valuable insights, expertise, and global connections to STAN Angels and portfolio startups. This advisory body helps startups validate their technology and business models, while supporting STAN Angels with informed decision-making and domain-specific knowledge.

💭Building a successful company requires a shift in how you think.

To celebrate the opening of our STAN New York Chapter at Malin Chelsea on June 2, we brought industry leaders to discuss what it takes to grow a business today. One of the key ideas of the evening was the major difference between working at a big corporation versus a startup.

Large companies provide a structure where professionals learn the ropes. Startups demand dedication and a willingness to build from scratch.

Our speakers noted that working at a startup functions as a practical business school. The environment requires teams to handle different responsibilities, which teaches resilience when facing challenges.

🩵We thank our moderator Avetis Antaplyan and panelists Valentina Poghosyan, Avak Kahvejian, and Igor Khalatian, for sharing their knowledge and setting a high standard for our future NYC events.

🌍"What should have scattered us, instead produced a globally networked, disproportionately ambitious diaspora."

During NY Tech Week, at The Malin Chelsea, Yelena Ambartsumian delivered an opening address for the STAN New York chapter launch that went far beyond typical tech ecosystem talking points. As the co-chair of STAN NYC and founder of AMBART LAW PLLC, she challenged us to look at our history not as a narrative of victimhood, but as a blueprint for anti-fragility.

For generations, this globally decentralized network operated on accident and necessity. If you needed an open door, you flipped through a phone book looking for a familiar last name. STAN’s mission is to institutionalize that network. We are building a structured engine designed to accelerate capital, talent, and deep tech ideas.

👇🏻Full speech in the video. Yelena's words are worth it.

🚀We are excited to announce our investment in Captain (YC W26).

Captain is building a file content search engine for AI agents. It searches large volumes of documents, images, audio, and video with state-of-the-art accuracy out of the box. No custom setup required; it’s simple, fast, and built for scale.

STAN is proud to be one of the investors backing Captain alongside Y Combinator, Handshake Ventures, Edison Capital, a16z Scout, Theo Browne, and other notable investors and angels.

We are excited to support Captain founders Lewis Polansky and Edgar Babajanyan on this journey and wish them continued success as they build Captain into a category-defining company.
